KSFO firings?

Besides losing Limbaugh to 910, fired KSFO morning guy Lee Rodgers is reporting on his blog that more people will be canned out at KSFO. I wonder if that means weekend people or Brian Sussman.

Lee Rodgers? Gosh, is that turkey still alive?

Tom Benner AKA Officer Vic has been fired, Sussman has some lame tweets & post about it.

Sussman has been a real piece of work even when he was doing the weather on TV. Vic was canned after 14 years without notice. Rodgers, Sussman, Vic etc. always defended whatever big Corporations did, so why are they whining now? Because it affects them? Sussman will go eventually anyway. Maybe there is something left on his contract. Unless it is local sports, Cumulus does not want local people, that is their plan.

Sussman is not whining, he has this dumb story that Office Vic (Tom Banner) pursued a suspect with his wife in the car and they ended up in Montana & decided to stay with Vic being asked to run for some local office. I guess there are actually people who believe Vic was a real cop so they'll buy Sussman lame story. I don't think he like sharing the mic with Tom anyway.

Cumulus already has three sports stations in San Francisco I doubt they're going for a fourth.

I recall that "Officer Vic" is Tom Benner, and was also a fill-in and weekend DJ at 99.7/KFRC in the 90s and early 00s.

I thought Cumulus only had two sports stations, KNBR-680 & KTCT-1050. Entercom owns the sports station on 95.7

My only comment is that Benner was talented and funny. Foolish move.

Tom Brenner did a long stint on 910 KNEW (country) 7-mid-night too back in the 80's-early 90's and was funny with "Brenners Basment" and his impressions of the Bonanza TV actors. Jon Whalen the KGO "Super Commuter" was the morning drive guy on KNEW ..man I miss that team and station.

Benners Basement, yep.

Cumulus needs local talk when it comes to sport teams, other than that the syndicrap will do.

Sussman has time left on his contract like Ronn Owens, but then will be given the boot. They had to pay the Rodgers guy for his remaining contract (thanks to a Union that Rodgers trashed for most of his "career")

The crowd out at KSFO and people like Wattenburg out at KGO always were in sync with everything the world of big business did...when it came around full circle and stung them on the rear end ... they started whining. Read Rodger blog, it is one big long whinny rant directed at everyone from the radio industry on down. He said Disney was a company that got rich by having children guilt trip their parents into buying things for them (like a trip to Disneyland, tickets to a Disney movie, a Mickey Mouse watch, etc.) Didn't hear that from him when he was getting a paycheck from them.

I don't read Lee Rodger's blog. Frankly, I'd rather hit myself repeatedly in the head with a roll of quarters. And I say that as a person who enjoyed his radio show occasionally, even though I disagreed with his political views - he was incredibly articulate, and often very funny. Having said that - he sounds like a man who never had kids. Disney is a capitalist company that makes money by providing products and services to children, and 'tweens. They have been very successful doing it.

As a parent who has had to take my kids to Disneyland, and put up with the Disney Channel on TV, I say - big deal. It had nothing to do with 'whining' - it was just part of their growing up process, like buying them clothes from Forever 21, soccer practice and dance lessons (it all costs money), letting them download hip-hop songs from the internet, etc.

Really, it's not much different than when I was growing up in the 60s.

How does Benner's departure for Montana effect his work on KCBS where he voices so many spots? He had been working from his home studio in the North Bay voicing spots for both KSFO and KCBS. If he left KSFO, maybe he left KCBS too.

Tom Benner didn't move to Montana his "character" Office Vic moved to Montana never to be heard from again.
Tom was fired from KSFO but his voice work on other station will still be heard.

Benner is in fact, gone, and Melanie Morgan is back on the KSFO morning show, along with Suss and Katie.

How long before they claw each others' eyes out? That's a match-up made in hell.

I turned on KSFO this morning, and heard Melanie Morgan's awful voice. Is that hag on KSFO again? If so, I will never listen to the morning show again.
In other news, I bought an Internet Radio from C Crane, and found an archive of Art Bell's programs. That's what I listen to at night these days. No commercials! I can't stand the eight minute "moments" of George Noory, so I simply can't listen to that show any more. But the archives of Art Bell are completely commercial free.
