KSFO simulcasting KMJ?

Whoops, hadn't read this before re-posting on the SF Board...

I put forth the possibility that the listener who reported this to Jerry may have accidentally bumped his radio and switched from KSFO (560) to KMJ (580).

KMJ comes in pretty solidly here in the Bay Area, and I can't think of any reason why KSFO would have been taking their audio from KMJ, which isn't owned by the same company.

It would be like the tail wagging the dog.

I contacted Suss about this. He said no way.

My theory is bleed-over. Not sure if that's possible for 560 vs. 580, but sometimes it can happen with stations on frequencies close to one another. KSFO is a low-power station (5000 watts). Is KMJ high-power? If KSFO's signal was weak or dropped momentarily, maybe KMJ's signal bled through.

I dropped Jerry a quick note after reading the original piece, wondering if perhaps his reader had bumped his tuning knob (if you'll pardon the expression) and had accidentally tuned over to KMJ (50kw at 580 AM) instead of KSFO (5kw at 560 AM). Jerry said he'd look into it, and subsequently printed his correction and apology.

Well, Yea... Duh!   Those old crystal sets are pretty "broad", if you know what I mean. If not, that's OK too, and I'm probably getting too old for this kind of fun!
