KSFV 27.2 switches from H&I HD to West HD

It appears H&I's high definition ride in Los Angeles is over. West went live today on 54-4 in SD, but also on 27-2 in HD, replacing H&I HD.

H&I simultaneously appeared on 54-5, but in SD, duplicating H&I SD already on 13-4.

Here in Studio City, I stopped getting the KSFV-CD channels. I've scanned many times and the signal strength is 100% with 0% signal quality and 0 Mbps network rate. Not sure if it's just me and why.

100% signal with 0% quality makes me think multipath or interference.

Any newly-constructed high rises near you? Or perhaps a transmitter pattern change that turned an existing object into a dead-on multipath mirror? I would guess that a strong enough multipath reflection could mangle even the signal's FEC.

There was a power issue at Mt. Harvard and Wilson over the weekend that is why you lost KSFV-CD.
This morning I do not see KFLA-LD 8 (Mt. Wilson), KIIO-LD 10 (Flint Peak), KPOM-CD channel share with KSFV-CD (Mt. Harvard),

Clearly something's up. There no new buildings anywhere between me and the tower, and it wasn't like the signal got weak, it literally went from 100% to nothing, and there're two other people in the valley that's having the same issue.
It'd be nice if they had a website or told the news or something.

Same thing by Van Nuys Airport, which of course also means KAZA-TV/54 is out.

Still not working. I'm going to send an email to MeTV Toons and see if I can get an answer.

Good luck. I asked them about that back when they combined KSFV and KAZA in the last repack and they never responded.

I am getting KEDD-LD on channel 27. They are on the KYSR tower in the Hollywood Hills just east of Coldwater Canyon.

That would explain the signal being terrain shielded in parts of Studio City, but it should be coming in fine at Van Nuys Airport ... unless it's because the antenna at my address is aimed directly at Mount Wilson.

What is KEDD running for programming? Trip's site is missing that information.

So do you think the KEDD-LD is conflicting with KSFV-CD in the freq 27? Maybe getting a directional antenna would force it to see KSFV-CD if directed to Mount Harvard site?
Right now the only way to get MeTV Toons is in channel 9.1 at a much lower bitrate with lots of pixelation. I assume 9.1 is just a repeater of 27.1.

Only KSFV is entitled to contour protection as a Class A. That station is owned by a subsidiary of Weigel (the parent of MeTV, et al).

According to the maps ...

KEDD:

... there is signal overlap in the East Valley and the Santa Monica Mountains, and I cannot fathom how these were approved with the overlap.

Paging @fybush and @Michi ...

Overlaid. Wow, this really does seem entirely wrong. Perhaps if the overlapping portion exclusively fell on mountainous terrain with no viewers, but in this case it's half over a large, ultra-dense suburban population.
