Las Vegas KSHP-AM North Las Vegas moving sites

Request for Special Temporary Authority AM Station KSHP, North Las Vegas, NV FIN 55502

Special Temporary Authority to operate KSHP from a different tower location is requested. The property upon which KSHP is currently operating has been sold, requiring KSHP to relocate in order to continue broadcasting. A tower has been located 0.76 kilometers from the licensed location which is available for the use of KSHP. The ASR registration number of the tower is 1262836, and the coordinates and specifications of the tower in the ASR database have been confirmed to be correct.
The temporary tower is shorter than the licensed tower, reducing the efficiency from 331 mV/m / kw to 321 mV/m. The tower is presently unoccupied, but the ground system from an earlier AM station operation appears to be intact. The tower is lit, and the lighting is being maintained by the tower owner. The licensee of KSHP intends to file an application for Minor Change within 30 days to request permanent operation from the new tower. This application for STA is being filed as the time to vacate the existing site is quite short, and a grant of this STA will enable KSHP to continue to serve it's community of license, North Las Vegas, NV.

Nothing filed yet for co-located KQLL-AM or KSHP's translator K296HP 107.1.

KSHP is at 1400 kHz, running 1,000 watts non-directional. So it only has a single tower.

Its website says it has LA Rams football and USC football. The schedule looks like all brokered shows. Give us a few bucks and you can have your own radio show!

It shows for an AM with a FM translator on 102.3.

There is a new listing on RadioTVDeals (which as Lance as pointed out and I have seen in my own experience is often incorrect or very out-of-date) for a Las Vegas AM and translator for the amount you shared. That listing doesn't show which station the listing is for but states "Office/studio is leased, and the combined tower site is leased.", which does not fit KSHP and it's translator's location. Also I am not even aware that KSHP has a leased office/studio.

I think this listing is actually for a different station, unless you know otherwise.

I’d be suspicious as well. The same site shows a listing for what is apparently KFNC in Houston. That station was (presumed) on another broker’s site last year, but the listing was eventually pulled.

It appears the tower for KSHP/KQLL is owned by KSHP, but doesnt mean they own the land. And KQLL hasnt fired any STA's or to move like KSHP.

I think this is KKWV 1060.....the tower is registered to the KKWV licensee, but doesnt mean they own the land. The translator for KKWV, 100.1 is on the same tower.

I th ink the listing which says "Combined site" means AM with translator not more than one am station

1400 is licensed to N. LV, 1280 is licensed to Henderson, 1060 is licensed to Las Vegas.

The add says the station is licensed to Las Vegas. ... and i know brokers sometimes exagerate or stretch things.. i think if it was KQLL or KSHP, theyd say "Serving las vegas"

KQLL's 102.3 translator is on the Strat, the best overall site for low power signals in the Las Vegas area.

I've sent numerous inquires on RadioTVDeals only to find out most the listings are for stations/permits that expired, license cancelled, already sold, or a no longer for sale. That sites needs a clean up.

I think they want more content so they are not incentivized to remove the old listings. The LV listing in question though was just posted, so I think it is active.

An assignment application was filed today for KSHP and its translator. The buyer is UBC from Gallup, NM and the price is 180k.

This was probably the station from the listing even though it doesn't totally match.
