KSIQ booster antenna

Yeah, what he said. I've noticed that the signal in downtown SD seems to be getting worse the past few days. Is it because they were putting this new setup in place and were testing it?

...I may have been a bit too technical...this antenna is designed to project a very narrow signal pattern. And with its 2000' + height, and
San Diego's strange atmospheric conditions, its signal can be iffy at times, outside of its main, designated lobe...
This would not even be an issue if the Campo site were on. (June 9th,- 5 months and counting)

It would be a much bigger issue due to the self interference of the main/booster, especially with programming running on both.

FM boosters @ high elevations = major problems unless there is significant terrain shielding between the signals.

Remember the original 102.1 booster constellation of the early 90's? Even after being completely re-designed/re-sited, it still had some self-interference areas. Just not possible to get enough shielding between the main and boosters.

This station is a crap shoot and Cherry Creek just saw dollar signs when the idea of "move to San Diego" was proposed then implemented. So what did they do? They shut down the AM station in Brawley as "it was to expensive to run". That should give outsiders a clue on community commitment even to Imperial Valley.

I live in the shadows of Mount San Migual and some days are great at 96.1 and some days are ... crap.

If you're very close there may be very little downward radiation from such a highly directional antenna.
