KSIQ - It's been 4 months

Been 4 months since their CP for Campo expired (Jan 9th). So Sunday at midnight I aimed my 400hp sedan toward Pine Valley to see what's cookin'.
Three trips to the area in the last four weeks, and it's still the same. Open mono carrier of undetermined power; but low enough to be blocked by
the Miguel booster. NO programming; NO required hourly ID's. I was waaay off when I predicted full operation within 2 weeks after Jan. 9th.
Maybe Mr. Zears should be looking into this sham operation. And halt the sale till this is "explained".

That station doesn't serve much of a purpose. It still doesn't come in well around most of San Diego and, although improves, has a flat sound. Their prgramming isn't that different from KHTS and KSCF so there's really no point in tolerating the diluted sound. A station like that needs to have a format that has no competitors.

I just noticed in Chris' sdradio.net that the station has found a buyer and an LMA will be put in place soon. No mention of who the buyer is.

On my recent trip back from the desert, I noticed the KSIQ main station in Campo is running with no audio. This makes about 12 days that I know of without any programming on the main channel. If I recall FCC rules state the booster must be terminated whenever the main station is off. Since the Campo station has been off, how is this serving their community of license? While there is nothing wrong with move-ins this is rather irresponsible.

Since the Campo main transmitter is polarized only Horizontal and you were in a car with a vertical antenna maybe thats why you heard nothing (?)

Hi Jon. The main station is indeed on, full quieting, unmodulated carrier. The antenna in the car is an inverted L in the rear window. At 25 KW and three miles off of the interstate there is little doubt that this was indeed the main station with no modulation. Even on a vertical only car antenna the signal would be easily heard at such a close-in distance. I tried to call the station but there is no local listing for them in Campo, Santee or San Diego.

I was just thinking. KSIQ has a crappy signal around San Diego area. They cannot relocate or upgrade the station due to separation issue with KUSS and KYXY. Can they trade signals with....lets just say XHMORE 98.9? Since SCT is more relaxed with the spacing issue than the FCC. Lets just say can 96.1 trade with 98.9. Allocate 98.9 to campos and allocate 96.1 to Tijuana. Upgrade 96.1 to Class B tijuana and move 98.9 to Mt. Soledad. Can it be possible? Look at the situation with the KUSS 95.7 long time ago.

My info on the sale of KSIQ was wrong; the station remains with Cherry Creek. The station, however, is "in the market" for sale. The station was also broadcasting from the Del Mar Fair ... San Diego County Fair.

You.re human, Chris. Sometimes "leads" go sour. Hopefully the "Correctness Cops" give you some slack.
Keep postin' !
