KSKD-FM license canceled

(Stay with me on this one...) The other morning I dialed in to the W7PUA WebSDR near Corvallis, Oregon. I was hoping to confirm if KZGD AM 1390, a Spanish-language station in nearby Salem had returned to the air.. I did hear Spanish religious programming... but it was KLOC in Turlock.

¡Wait! ¿ Isn't that Nelson Gómez's AM outlet formerly part of the La Favorita Network? Yes, apparently it's being LMA'd to the Catholic Diocese of Stockton. The AM station has a website but you'll need to fiddle with the HTML code to hear their Shoutcast server.

The website is https://www.unidosporcristoymaria.org/Radio/radio.html

I assume the FM cross-service translator is part of this arrangement. Apparently the Diocese has other signals too...

What I have yet to find is the actual Local Marketing Agreement, normally a public document filed with the FCC. If someone finds it please post the URL...

KAFY (La Favorita - Bakersfield) and Radio Manantial De Vida Eterna

What is going on lately with KAFY La Favorita AM 1100 in Bakersfield? Apparently there was a "pseudo-LMA" going on with a religious group called " Radio Manantial de Vida Eterna" ; a studio was even at 100 W Columbus. The group still holds the cross-service licenses for two of KAFY translators: K239BB (95.7) Bakersfield, K262BP (100.3) Conner. If there was any informal agreement it appears to have ended as Manantial's website leads to a third-party religious audiostream.

When I heard KAFY out here in WY a few times, it appeared to be running a non religious music format

More "Puro Radio Amigo" Audio Feeds

Both the Buttonwillow (KHMU) and Willows (KPQW) outlets have AAC streaming audio feeds via this Icecast server: http://c2009.streamguys1.com . You'll hear breakaway shows with local announcements, advertisements, etc. Programming returns to the mothership KUKY Welton AZ during non-core hours.

I really enjoy Amigo's more regionalized music mix; some of the IDs remind me of the old days of listening to XERH Radio Seis via shortwave. (The Icecast server also hosts several Mexican stations located along the border near Yuma.)

The local PRA station (106.7 KPQS/Waterford-Modesto, CA) has been dead air / stereo pilot only for months now. Probably last audio I heard was a year ago, then it was completely off the air for a while before "carrier only" recently.

Probably because the Barix boxes which recieve a stream without needing a computer died or got stupid during a power or internet outage and didn't "retune" after either came back up. I worked for a small very rural public radio network of stations whos only option was feeding outerlying stations by IP and the barix box frequently got stupid after an internet or power outage

Yeah, that can happen. Although they are much better than they used to be. Today's units come up & reconnect pretty reliably. Also, this is a 6KW signal. Not exactly a small station. You'd think they would pay closer attention to its operation. Then again, Hispanic Target Media may just be selling based on their perceived coverage with no regard to actual operations. If the customers and management are blissfully unaware of the failure I guess this could go on for a long time. Or maybe it's being run on venture capital.

We switched out to Deva boxes and it worked alot better even with our almost weekly internet and power outages in rural Alaska. what we did was install a 24 hout radio shack appliance timer that would turn it off every morning at 3am and turn it back on at 301am.. a roundabout rebooting way

KPQS and other "on-hold" Hispanic Target Media stations (KQQH, KZQT)

I understand that KPQS's audio chain got ripped up by a power surge or thunderstorm hit. The more interesting situations are KZQT (Kettleman City) and KQQH (Wasco) . Their antenna relocation requests have FCC Enforcement Holds on them. KQQH has had a long-running 0.5kw ERP STA and KZQT had some issues with an accidental placenment on the wrong tower near I-5.

Hispanic Target Media (KEGT San Miguel) and deleted KHMQ King City

KEGT has about 13 left in their CP for a Class A in San Miguel at 105.5. Google Earth shows a nice cell tower at the transmitter coordinates but no power source.

Hopefully KEGT will not end up like HTM's KHMQ in nearby-King City, The FCC's license cancellation order a few years ago reads like the whole mess with KZPO, KYAF etc...

The FCC has just canceled the license of KSKD-FM, Livingston, CA.

Dear Licensee:
Our records indicate that Station KSKD (FM), Livingston, California (Station), licensed to KSKD, Inc. (KSKD), may have been operating from an unauthorized site since August 7, 2017. ......
Back to the original KSKD discussion ... I looked at some of the earlier online FCC filings for KSKD. I was surprised that originally the station was licensed to Livingston, a much larger town on CA99 between Turlock and Merced. (The original 3kw signal emitted from a site a dozen miles south of Livingston. The old site even could rimshot Merced.) What thinking was behind the move towards Dos Palos, out in the middle of the unpopulated valley towards Los Banos? Was there another station/or upgrade involved back near Livingston? (Several proposed/active sites were established for KSKD before the Feds got wise.)

I also see LaFavorita still owns KNTO, a class A with a decent signal over Chowchilla environs but they don't stream or even have a website. Any idea what KNTO carries?

Thanks beej65. This fills in some of the missing pieces. On the Amistad Cristiana TOH ID the stations announced are KCFA Arnold, KNTO Chowchilla, and K279AM (103.7) "Turlock" (really Hughson).

The February 25th edition of Deal Digest has a story thatKAFY Bakersfield and a cross-service translator were sold to theTorres Media Group. I have yet to find the paperwork at FCCDATA.ORG. Can anyone did up the sales application paperwork?. it might be an interesting read.
.

Of course, KAFY was owned by LaFavorita, ergo ex-KSKD as well.
