I'm excited ....After 10, in some cases 15 years and maybe more in some cases...were getting new gear! Our Wheatstone E1 console is probably 15 years old, we're running an older version of IMT. WE're moving the studio a few blocks away next and going to get a bunch of new gear, including replacements for what I already mentioned.. along with a 3rd computer in the studio for recording live interviews/internet access, new CD players, new mics all kinds of goodies. We're also hoping to add a second, unpublished landline and an auto coupler so I can go live from commnunity news or events if needed or wanted.
As a staff of 1 1/2, the new and better tech will enable us to further expand our capabilities and offer even more to our communities. And thats a big deal for our little 90 Watt signal with 7 under 100 watt FM Repeater stations (not translators) we'll have equipment comparable to better medium market lower 48 stations.
I live above the station, and I'll be in the building for the time being even after we move until we find a place close by for me (and theres at least one super close by option)
I'll be at the Alaska Broadcasters Association convention in Anchorage in November to check out some vendors and gear based upon the insistance of our project engineer, Van The Man Craft.
Below are some pictures of the current facility
