KSKS PD QUITS OVER GARABO

This stuff is so drama-filled, it needs it's own web site. KSKS PD Steve Pleshe quit Friday. He tells management it's Garabo or him. You read it here first.

I understand PARTY SHARK has an up-date coming on Pleshe's meltdown!

dang Churchillis, how many chains you yankin over there at peak? are you secretly "Hodie Ho"?
SO, Stevie has a complete meltdown and sends out an email saying something about being bullied and having only one soul and how he wouldnt sell out his only soul...this from a guy who was shtooping the morning gal "Hodie Ho" with whom he went to disney with for a one week romp. That is how the whole ordeal started. Garabo then blasts the guy on the air for the affair and outs the two, one of which is married. Mr. Stevie is sooo upset that he has Garabo suspended for a week then when Garabo returns, the bullying goes into full effect and the pissing match begins. When the dust settles after Stevie says "it's me or him Patty", Ms. Hicks says, Stevie, here's some advice, dont let the door hit ur ass on the way out.
So, as for Stevie being creative and inventive...hmmm are you talking about Steve Martin, because I have never heard anything creative or inventive from Mr. Stevie at KSKS. He needs to learn some people skills and drop the "I am better than you" attitude. Go back to square one and learn some humility Stevie. Programming the #1 country game in town for 3 years with no competition doesnt make you a great programmer, it's just that people had nowhere else to go.

Ouch Partyshark! Talk about kicking a guy when he is down. You seem to think you know an awful lot about what goes on with KSKS. And you love gossiping about it too, don't you?
As for KSKS being dominant because they were the only choice, did you happen to get a look at the Summer Arbitron book? Where is KHGE, the fearsome competitor, in the rankings? You won't find them if you only look at the top 20. Even KSXE beat them 12+ in both average persons and cume! Yeah, that's right, the KSXE that operates at the wattage of a university radio station. And this is KHGE on a huge stick. The same signal that, when it was KALZ, had double the cume audience and triple the average listeners 12+. How did KSKS do? Oh, that's right, second general market again. Just like they were before KHGE launched. So much for competition.
As for me yanking chains... It is customary to wish people well when they start in a new endeavor. If you had any class you might have known this.

isnt the target audience 25-54? how bout the summer book only having 1 dj there wasn't the other one gone having a baby? say what you will churchillis1 give it a year and ksks will have competition. the second country station probably has to make up for that annoying female in the morning who seems like almost killed the station. oh and churchillis1 while u r at it quit kissing the pd's butt he can't help u now!! u and i both know what it was like working with him.

Yikes! I have to beg to differ about the whole competition thing. KHGE has had over a year to prove themselves. I haven't seen the summer book, but I have listened to the station. One, three, twelve DJ's, it stinks regardless! Actually, they had/have TWO female DJ's tanking it, the one that is left can't even formulate words or get a sentence out during the breaks, but I guess 10 to 3 isn't really an important daypart.

This isn't about KHGE - This is about KSKS - PD was the pot calling the kettle black, sent out emails about KHGE lawsuit to the music industry and constantly talked about KHGE. This is about how ego gets out of control and starts HR issues, just like at KHGE. When you are power hungry operating on the ego platform, you can't see the forest through the trees. Leave the shark alone or you will feel his teeth.

Here we go again. First Radioloser2 says to give KHGE a year to prove themselves as they get ready to celebrate their second birthday, then Jimmythebassett tries to say that the knock on the ex-KSKS PD that claimed he only did well because he had no competition doesn't have anything to do with the fact that KHGE is the competition. Seriously, educate yoursleves beofre you start talking trash. Oh and Radioloser..... Adult 25-54 numbers in the Summer book?
KSKS ranked ...1st general market
KSXE ranked...20th
KHGE ranked...20th (same average listeners as KSXE, smaller cume)

What is the defense for that? That's right, let's wait till they've been around a year and judge them then. Still waiting to see the teeth from the shark....

No reason to bring out the teeth just yet church. KHGE doesnt have ratings right now because they probably dont have a promotions budget so getting the word out about the station will be tough. Much like KSXE not having a promotions budget...which is now Power 1063 btw, and all the jocks were blown out a month ago, KHGE is hardly on TV or billboards. KSKS by default is gonna be big in the ratings until KHGE starts getting noticed and gains steam.
My whole point of the last post was to point out the hipocrasy of Mr. Steve Pleshe talk about selling his soul when he is having an affair with the morning girl. I never did like the guy or his attitude and demeanor. I am not gonna be a kiss ass to someone I dont like. It couldnt have happened to a more deserving "soul".

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but don't you usually put the steam behind the station when you first launch it? Don't you invest money for billboards, promotions etc. when it launches? KHGE launched over 18 months or so ago. Why in the world would there ever be any "steam" now, if they haven't picked it up in 18 months, will they ever? It's nice giving CC the benefit of the doubt here, but c'mon enough is enough. Change is inevitable, it's just how long will CC continue to let this thing die on the vine? Sometimes you just have to bow out gracefully. Maybe the jocks can find jobs with KSKS.....just kidding.

Well now that the horrible female is gone from the morning show, that station might start to draw listeners. I for one never understood that angle. I would have thought you would want to talk about things relevant to the audience on a country station, like nascar and football and barbeques, not that britney spears crap she was always pushing.
Not sure about the more music angle, but better than that troll they had on there always talking about herself.

A few questions from someone out of the market following the Fresno country battle.

How many months has Athena been gone from KHGE? Have their morning numbers gone up since then or not? How many live shifts does KHGE have? Is afternoons still voicetracked out of Spokane?

She's only been gone a short while so it may be one more book to actually see some results. The arbs look like a steady decline since last Christmas in any demo you look at and it doesnt appear that the ratings can go much lower. I know that at least 2 dayparts are live...middays and afternoons... not sure about the night girl.

For KHGE to be successful it would have to be perceived as a basic improvement over
what KSKS has been doing for years. I just hear a lot of imaging & slickness not really
enough DJ interaction with listeners.

The original WOLF Dallas & Young Country stations were personality based. Not hiding behind sweepers & promos. I'll be frank, I've hired women to do mornings in several markets, its never really worked to my satisfaction. The Country Life group specifically is a tough nut to crack in embracing a 2 woman
morning show.

Country is not as complicated as many programmers think, people want to hear their favorite songs and be entertained. The problem is today's icons are soft, a new country challenger today won't make it with more-music mornings and other musical promises, it must stand for something. Boards & TV won't move the meter on a hum-drum product.

I could go into specifics, but I get paid to do that.

Just because I'm curious and haven't seen the ratings.....what did KHGE do in 25-54:

Morning Drive
10a to 3p
Afternoon Drive

And then how much is a spot on KHGE with those kind of ratings? Can anyone give me an educated guess?

adults 25-54
Morning drive- Rank 27th, 0.6 share
10a-3p- Rank 18th, 1.6 share
Afternoon Drive- Rank 18th, 1.6 share

Spot cost....no clue.
