KSKY's transmitters

I was wondering where exactly KSKY's transmitters are at ! When ever I'm at the Target in Carrollton on Josey. I look to the north and west at night and see four tower set up that are lit up. They are on the north side of Hebron Parkway and I believe the road that leads to them is Huffines. If I climb on the roof of my house I can get a clear view of them. I was wondering if the towers that I'm seeing are KSKY's ?

thanks in advance

Can you convert latitude and longitude? Here's what the FCC says:

33-02-25.7 N 096-56-57.3 W
Off of State Highway 121
Lewisville , TX

This may also be the site of KVCE-1160's tower. Just look for the Mexican flag that one of their board ops strung from the top to attract publicity during the Farmers Branch debacle. (And yes, that self-serving stunt WAS of the station's doing, and not of some crazed Dan Patrick hater...all confirmed by a former employee.)

And who is "Bison Media"? A cover name for Salem? That's who it shows for ownership.

Of course, us oldtimers well remember the KSKY towers being on Bruton Rd just east of Jim Miller. The old shack and towers still stand, last time I checked. The street I grew up on dead-ended at the KSKY property. Maybe it was exposure to all that RF, way back when, that brainwashed me into this sick radio obsession!!

I'm pretty sure that those are, in fact, the KSKY towers. Seems to me they've been at that site for the last two or three years...maybe a tad longer. Should be almost due north of Carrollton and southeast of Lewisville.

KVCE's daytime transmitters are shown out near Bridgeport. The night transmitter is shown by the location Mikeshannon is talking about

I can confirm with certainty that the four lamped towers you see are indeed KSKY. I was in the new transmitter building for a visit back in fall 2002 when ``Cowboy'' (a Salem engineer from Ohio, IIRC) was getting everything ready for the new site.

They have a monster daytime signal from this location. The night signal, though, is highly directional to the extent that you can see the towers on SH-121 at Main Street in The Colony but experience fading, phasing and interference. A few miles further, around SH-121 and Spring Creek, it's almost unlistenable (since I attempt to hear Dennis Miller's show while driving that route at night).

I surmise that that KSKY's night signal is sufficient to cover the COL of Balch Springs.

Wow Mike Shannon
I had a friend that lived one street over (to the east of the old KSKY) who died at the age of 16 from CF, another died a year later in a car wreck at the same age basically right in front of the old transmitter site.
Good times...

Too bad they are just strong enough in Richardson to blow away adjacent WSM on 650. Time for a directional loop antenna I guess.

Last time I was in Nashville I took some pix of their Blaw-Knox tower, it looks really cool.

I like what WSM says on their web site about their past along with WLW's.....having being to the base of the WLW tower and walked through the 500KW monster, and hearing WSM at night even before KIKK in Pasadena signs off, reminds me that the golden days of radio broadcasting have gone...

That signal is a monster - I bet they go 400 miles out to the West in the daytime. I don't have any problems with WSM at night, but then I usually listen on a super - selective Superadio 1. The only thing I can't get is WFAN - they are a tough catch this far West anyway.
