KSL-AM The Latest Copper Theft Victim

What a way to put a damper on Bonneville's radio fortunes. On the same day that it was announced that their WTOP in Washington (soon to be owned by Hubbard Broadcasting) is the nation's top-billing radio station for 2010, word comes out that the transmitter site for their Salt Lake City news/talk station KSL 1160 was looted for around $30,000 in copper.

The thefts have been going on for several weeks now, about one or two a week. Probably gonna take putting a SWAT team in there, then driving the cars away. They could see any cars and trucks in the area, so it would be hard to do a "stake out".

Here's a link to the TV story, with video:

I'd hope they can put some photos, of the kind of stuff that was stolen, on the web. Maybe the thieves will do it, posting on the KSL Classifieds ;D .

KSL (AM/FM) Radio, along with KSFI-FM, KRSP-FM, KSL-TV and the West Coast half of the old Bonneville International stations are now under KSL management, with Hubbard claiming the East Coast stations and most of the old BIC team.
