KSL Heard in West Palm Beach

While on a short trip to WPB Fla this past weekend, I was able to pick up KSL 1160 very cleanly about 3:00 AM EST on my Sangean DT200x. Was able to also pick up 620 Tampa; 810 & 1540 Bahamas; 770, 880 from NY.

WOW!!! Congrats my friend! Looks like around 2050 miles, or 3300 km!

Great job. That is a fabulous catch.

Good catch!

Same with WCBS, with WZAB so close on the same frequency.

Even here in Tampa, there are some times where WZAB takes over WCBS.

KSL cleanly from South FL...wow. I might give it a shot tonight, as I live 80 miles from WPB.

It was a snap back in the 1970s, when it was the only 1160 on at night. Now, not so much.

I was wide awake from jet lag - just getting in from Seattle. I also snagged KSL in Dunedin, Fla when I lived there in 1974! Listened regularly to Herb Jepko and the Nightcaps

I remember Jepko----as I recall, it was "KSL in the west, WHAS in the east"---"that'll work" as far as covering the 48 in the 70s!

I tried for KSL last night, got nada----however it looks as if I got that Asian 1110 outta Dallas. See other thread.

There's your Reception Report address ;D .

Mutual wanted him to move back east, and to get more controversial. He wouldn't, so they replaced him with some kid named Larry King.

I may have heard KSL last night from south FL, but Murphy's Law prevailed. What I heard between 3 & 4 am EST was "When Radio Was," featuring a 1954 Jack Benny Program episode. There was a break after the show, but right after the commercial they went right back into WWR. Sigh.

"When Radio Was" airs on KSL Radio from 1:00-5:00 AM MT Sunday mornings.
Any hint of a commercial in there?

^ Eh, the typical national radio commercial.....not sure if it was buying gold, or for a medication, or for loans/foreclosure info---a lady announcing, I think. I am sure it was KSL. Sure not like KSL sounded on my radio here 35 years ago, with the fading/QRM not to mention we have WAVS 1170 here slightly messing things up. Yup WAVS is 24h.
