Is this a marketable item or would it be smarter for Talk stations to do Hot Talk or liberal talk on their HD streams.

Well there is a couple channels on Sirius that are geared towards Women and I believe Ellen has her show on XM now as well. Not sure how the ratings would be but there are shows out there to put on the station. Here are a few of the top of the head :

Chick Chat Radio Show
Satellite Sisters
Lifestyle Radio Network
Bob and Sherri
Matt and Ramona

ABC previously had a female talk station in this market, KTZN 710 AM. It was a miserable failure.

Stephanie Miller, now at KTLK, was one of the hosts on that failure. She isn't getting any better results at KTLK. So one can effectively write off (commercial) liberal talkradio and female talkradio as two formats that don't work in this market.

CBS Radio's HD format isn't going to have local hosts. So much for any "edge" it could have over satellite or internet radio.

Give me a compelling reason to purchase an HD receiver. Los Angeles broadcasters are batting a fat "zero" so far.

The last two aren't really talk; they're AC shows in cute packages. LTRN is fill and features a lot of stuff women wouldn't listen to, like Ray Lucia and Bruce Williams. Dr. Joy Browne and Dr. Laura come to mind as big players if this ever took off (which it won't), and Dave Ramsey was on a women's talker in NC recently. Also, the Dream Doctor, which is on a few Cox ACs. Other than that, FM107/Minneapolis is the best performer in this "format", and they're local 10 hours a day.

Love him or hate him, I'm in complete agreeance with Leykis on the many reasons talk radio for women will always fail.

Yeah, good idea to back a guy's opinion on women, when he was arrested for beating one up.

Great argument pal; and quite original I might add. Of course, you or I could be "arrested" for murder tomorrow, but until we're convicted, which he never was, it's meaningless. So go listen to the Satellite Sisters talk about kiwi lime pie recipes.
