KSLX ... Classic Hits?

T

Guest
Hi to all.

I know that KSLX-FM has been promoting itself as "The Classic Rock Station,", but I must say after listening to several other broadcast simulcasts on the Internet that I believe the station is, in fact, a classic hits station. I am hearing a lot more pop songs on KSLX now, including Seals and Crofts's "Summer Breeze," and Bill Withers' "Lean on Me." I assume the company which owns the station (they also own KDKB and KUPD as well as KAZG and KDUS) is trying to differentiate KSLX's sound from that of its sister station KDKB. Still, I would argue that, since the sound has softened, the promotional monicker should be "Classic Hits," and not "Classic Rock."

That's it for now. To all, take care.
______________

KSLX IS THE CLASSIC ROCK STATION FOR PHOENIX

KDKB IS ALBUM ROCK

KUPD IS ROCK

KPKX IS CLASSIC HITS.. AND NOT A "JACK FORMAT"

IMO

I'M SURE THERE WILL BE A 'JACK' IN PHOENIX WITH AN EVEN MORE ECLECTIC MIX O MUSIC... FROM BEASTIE BOYS TO RONNIE MILSAP TO BEE GEES INTO DEF LEPARD

Classic Hits ?

I'VE SEEN THIS TIME LIFE MUSIC COMMERCIAL ON THA TEE VEE..

AND I'D LIKE TO HEAR SOME OF THESE ARTIST (SEE BELOW), MIXED WITH A FEW OF THE SONGS HEARD ON 1230 KOY - FOR A 'SOFT JACK' STATION. ..PERHAPS IT COULD BE CALLED 'JILL'.

TO STRAY FROM THE ORIGINAL POST (SORRY)..

WOULD KOY'S RATINGS IMPROVE THE 'STANDARDS' FORMAT WAS ON FM ? ..BRING BACK KOY-FM ??

One of two things would happen:

1. No change

2. You'd see it #1 12+ like WDUV in Tampa, with absolutely horrid demos, and it would bill the same as it is on 1230.

NOW THAT I LOOK AT THE ABOVE POST, THAT'S WHAT THE PEAK IS.

I POSTED (AS I USUALLY DO) WITH NOT ENOUGH TIME TO GATHER MY THOUGHTS AND CAME-UP WITH THAT LAME EXAMPLE.

WHAT I WANT IS A STATION TO MIMIC SOME OF THE MUZAK CHANNELS THAT I HEAR IN OUR LOBBY EVERYDAY. THEY DO AN AMAZING JOB WITH THEIR PROGRAMMING.

IF ONLY MUZAK PROVIDED PROGRAMMING TO RADIO STATIONS TOO.

SIRIUS AND XM SHOULD PROVIDE PROGRAMMING FOR TERRESTRIAL STATIONS.

Nor, apparently, do you have time to disengage your caps lock.

Have you ever seen a book or a newspaper where anything except the headline is in upper case?

Please, try it.

(Oh, the Peak billboards all over town refer to a very Jack/like positoner of playing "what we want.")

And that is neither a book nor a newspaper.

Newswire imitates old-fashioned telegraph dispatches, which were all caps because there was essentially no distinction between cases; old teletypes also used a small character set that could be typed without shifting.

In both cases, it was a limitation of technology. Today, we can produce text in the most readable forms, if we know that style and typefaces are the most legible (mixed case with a serifed font are the best).

When you post in all caps on the net, people think you are shouting. It also makes anything but short passages nearly impossible to read.

They teach kids all caps in first grade. As soon as they master that, they move on to mixed case. My assumption, then, is that you are in the first grade.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TRYING TO MIMIC

I HAVE LIMITED TIME FOR THESE POSTS AND NOT HAVING TO SHIFT DOWN KEEPS IT EASY

Art Vandalay explains caps locks...

> >

> AS AN ARCHITECT, I'VE BEEN HANDWRITING ALL CAPS SINCE THE

What does that statement mean?

1. You've been an architech writing in all caps since the 4th grade.

2. You didn't learn to write until the 4th grade because you were too busy studying architecture.

3. You were so bright that you skipped eathing paste in kindergarten and went straight to 4th grade where you were awarded your architecture degree.

4. Your experience with English 101 is limited to reading signs on the freeway while driving through Scottsdale.

If you have limited time for posts, why spend time arguing with David Eduardo? I think you use caps locks to piss people off, not because your time is so valuable.

You've been an architect since the 4th grade? You're smarter than I thought. :-D

Re: Art Vandalay explains caps locks...

Mr Carlson,
You are one funny man !!
I'm sure I worked with you at one time .
So Paul Peterson landed the PD Gig @ KD. Will Sandusky give the PD chair to Steve Trella ? or will Mr Carlson land the KSLX PD gig ..ha ha

re: longhairdude

> Mr Carlson,
> You are one funny man !!

Nah, this board has just been so dull lateley that any topic that doesn't involve the minuses and minuses of CHILL or danth music seems funny.
> I'm sure I worked with you at one time

Everyone in radio has worked with a smart *ss like me.

Now that's up to Mother Carlson. I don't dare ask.

Have a good one longhairdude,

Mr.C
Edited by mr_carlson on 09/06/05 09:54 PM.

And now, the architect sketch.

You write in all caps because you disrespect the people you write to and want to stand out.

You fail to realize that your disrespect automatically pegs your writing as childish and not worthy of consideration.

And now, the architect sketch.
