I have been listening to the KSLX stream from out of town and here is my opinion. What I like about this station is that it sounds like a classic rock from 15 years ago. It hasn't updated or modernized their music library like so many classic rock stations have across the country. I suppose this is by design, to seperate the station from KDKB? Whatever the reason it's enjoyable to listen to. I like a lot of 80s/90s (and current music) but don't like it mixed in with classic rock, I prefer the more pure listening expereince that KSLX provides.
Everything is super familiar on KSLX They are close to being a classic hits station (the old definition). Yet they still manage to give me a slight "oh wow" sensation when they play something older or softer than you would ever expect to hear on classic rock especially in 2011, they are playing Zombies-Time of the Season now for example.
I do have a technical criticism about their stream. After 5 minutes the music speeds up and sounds like the Chipmunks..it's unlistenable. So I have to stop and re-start the stream every 5 minutes.
