KSLY country?

Just saw elsewhere that KLSY dumped CHR for country on Monday.
Any airstaff survive? And isn't KKJG moving out of the market?
IIRC to a Fresno rimshot? Of course, I may be delusional (again).
______________

You'd think with KSNI, they'd not want to crap on their own plate. What kind of country station still spins the Dixie Chicks anyhow? (cough KBKO, KSNI cough)

I'd guess it'd be more like CC to bring in a totally non-country jock to fill in their night voids like on KBKO. I don't know, he just seems like a glorified liner jock who spends too much time reading internet stories. I don't know, I used to really be into the country radio scene, but lately, between the country station in Sac, and a few choice others through the valley, its just ruining it. Seems like most of 'em sound like a twanging AC station...

I hope it works. Hmm KKJG moving out of the market, I've heard that too, but as a rimshot to fresno? Sheesh, they already have a "Jug Country" on KJUG 106.7. Can someone refresh my memory(was too young to pay attention) as to if Westcoast owned both "Jugs"

And can someone clarify the supposed move for KKJG? (timeframe/reason/etc) I couldn't find any app on the FCC website, and if they move to Bako as originally rumored, is that going to nullify the gentlemans agreement between AGM and Buck-o? (the you don't bring in a country station, and they don't flip KUZZ-AM (50KW with decent coverage into the San Fernando Valley and up to Fresno and over to the coast) to talk.

Then again, does AGM care now that it owns KERI.

THE SAGA CONTINUES.

I'm a fan of the country radio in Bako...longtime KUZZ guy, now KBKO convert. I was intrigued by your question "what kind of country station still spins the Dixie Chicks anyhow?"

I called a PD friend of mine in Fresno and he looked it up...
Apparently, the Dixie Chicks have enjoyed over 40,000 spins of their music on country radio stations, over 65,000 if you count AC stations that play "Landslide". Over 100 country radio stations that are monitored are playing Dixie Chicks. The real test will be soon since I saw on All Access that the Chicks have a new single. The question will be who will play it? My guess is many are "over it"...listeners may not like Natalie's mouth, but they apparently still like the songs. (Considering how most stations today won't take a crap without research, I doubt that the research is saying "the Dixie Chicks are poison". Just a thought.

Comparing apples and oranges here, but...I played a DC tune
on WSIX Nashville last weekend, and got only two calls: both
in favor. It's a tough call: to play what listeners may perceive
as a negative, or not play them to be safe. Hafta see if WSIX adds
their new tune. It's a tough 4-station battle here.
______________

AGM owns KJUG in SLO... and it's been their cash cow for years. The thought that they would "move" it... is ridiculous. Look for KSLY to be as big a flop as KBKO... lets start guessing what format will be next.
Edited by SanJoaquin on 10/08/05 02:38 AM.

Thanks for the lesson: the change of COL was mentioned in
other posts here. I found it surprising, but nothing in radio
at this point can be labeled ridiculous. Unwise? Absolutely.
Glad to see that you're objective enough to give KSLY six days
in the new format before passing judgement.
______________
