Is there a reason why AM 1240 is reducing power, according to radio-locator.com they have a CP for 545 watts.

It is for a CP; most likely to either move/repair the former landmark tower near 32nd Street. 1240 is a wasteland for stations; the reception in North County is also with a 1240 from San Bernardino county.
 
It's not really a power reduction. As part of the condition for sale they have to rebuild the tower to its original height. The FCC says that height will be more efficient than the current reduced height, so the power has to be reduced to its original authorization. It has been authorized for as little as 480 watts depending on the base impedance measurements.

I hope the legendary KSON call letters will be put up; probably not if/when the station does sale.
 
Who currently owns it out right, because lately they have been simulcasting a spanish realigios station from the Inland Empire.

I would doubt they would replace the sign. It would be expensive, add to wind loading and would be kina embarrassing if they decided to change the calls on transfer. I had that sign taken down and refurbed in 1985 so it would light up again. Two days after turning it on a bird crashed into one of the letters and broke the neon. It was turned off after that.

Until the deal closes it's still owned by Lincoln Financial. It's being operated under an LMA.
 
Here is a piece of engineering and programming advise for that station. (it is just my opinion)

Turn it off and save the power bill!
 
Well, you could say that about KCBQ or even KFMB at night, blowing 50 kW at the whales. If you have it, it has to be on to stay on. But you know that.
 
It is actually owned by Multicultural Brodcasting out of New York. They operate 1240 from their Pasadena studios along with a couple of other stations.

I believe that 1240 was a brokered deal; it is part of the KSON/KiFM/FM 94/9 family.
 
It will be owned by Multicultural when the deal closes. It's programmed right now by Multiculteral under an LMA. It's currently still owned by Lincoln Financial.
