KSQQ 96.1 History?

Could someone tell me the history of KSQQ? WHen the station sign on the air? Also, did it have the same format when it sign on the air. Also, I'm surprise the station hasn't change its program, and ownership. With all of the FM stations in the silion valley gobble up by the big corporations.

I can answer one of your questions, and guess at the rest.

The station signed on in 1991 as KSQQ. Original construction permit was issued in 1989 as KRAC, and the call letters were changed during construction to KSJQ, then to KSQQ shortly before signing on.

The name on the construction permit is the same as the current licensee (Coyote Communications) so I am guessing it has always had a multi-ethnic format.

As to why it has never been "gobbled up", I would guess that Coyote makes enough money running brokered ethnic programmming to be able to reject any offers.<P ID="signature">______________
