KSTN FM

What's the word on KSTN? Has John LaRue sold yet since his father passed away back in December?

That FM stick is amazing (although in Mono) - Would love to see something actually happen on that frequency... and I wonder how far that stick would go if they were broadcasting in stereo... any engineer types wanna take a jab at that?

The stations range would NOT increase by broadcasting in stereo. In fact, the overall clarity improves with the pilot tone off (no stereo) but coverage is not a factor.

Understood... By saying "I wonder how far" I was meaning "how much less, compared to now" would it go as Stereo - sorry for the mixup...

So coverage would remain the same, it just would be as "clear" if it were stereo??

KSTN-FM is in STEREO. It has been for some time. The Stereo pilot is ON. Maybe the audio is still MONO..

Now that would be... less than optimal thinking?

Although if the facilities between the jock's chair and transmitter were never capable of stereo, it would have been some kind of cost savings to never have upgraded.

So, does anyone think that Knox's heirs will upgrade to stereo now that digital FM is coming down the pike?

Really? So KSTN's engineer just THINKS it's Mono - is that what you're saying? I think he'd know of all people...
