KTAQ => KTXD?

While looking at the Broadcasting & Cable article about the Tucson news department going poof on the air, I saw a link to this article: http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/476675-Continental_to_Rep_Six_London_Stations.php

Continental (a Katz division) is going to represent several London Broadcasting stations, including
"new purchase KTXD Dallas".

I've already looked at RabbitEars and the FCC TV query pages, and there's nothing regarding the KTXD calls in DFW. The latest thing a Google search turned up was that there was an LP Azteca America station in Amarillo with those calls but it apparently no longer exists.

Anyone know anything?

The FCC Call Sign query reports that KTAQ has reserved the callsign KTXD for after the purchase goes through.

If they've signed Continental to rep the soon-to-be KTXD, is that another sign that perhaps London plans something more than infomercials for channel 47?

I can't imagine (even with my limited knowledge) that a TV station would need representation just to show infomercials or religiousness.

The ad rep signing says they're not going to be wall-to-wall infomercials when this deal is finally completed.

The KTXD call sign tells me they're going to try to associate with Dallas much in the way KTXA was orignally designed to associate Channel 21 with Arlington when that station signed on the air in 1981. (that's were 21's original studios were located back then even though the city of license was Fort Worth)

Aside from some of the much-talked-about digital subchannel networks that are not carried here, I have no idea what London might put on this station to try to generate enough viewers to sell enough ads to make it work.

A friend who works at another London station tells me that they are honoring the contract of the religious broadcaster that leases the signal. When that expires they expect to go with something like "Me-TV."

Now the guessing game: how long is that lease? Seems like it couldn't be all that long if they've already enlisted the services of an ad rep.

KTXD-TV still shows as requested at the FCC. London has registered ktxdtv.com. I wonder if they will flip to something with the new year?

That's what I heard.

Upon looking and The Company's website, it looks like KTXD will also have a newscast, its an essential according their their company guidelines. Won't this make it the first time this station ever had news?

KTAQ has always been a shoestring operation and I've never seen any news on it (although it did and does have E/I programming). I wish London luck as they attempt to mainstream the station but I'm highly skeptical of how they'll do as the third indy (English language) in this market. Chicago has just one general market independent (WCIU) and we'll have triple that number when KTXD flips (KTXA., KTXD and KFWD). I think it'll be a tough sell. I'm hoping I'm wrong and will be glad to eat crow if KTXD is successful.

I am curious to see what they'll do with the station.
None of their TV stations are Independent. They all have an Affiliation of some kind. (KUIL is listed as Independant But I think they are My Network TV)

I'm hoping for Me-TV.

My guess would be Me-TV on the main channel with the other current subchannels remaining the same as long as they pay for the space.

Nowhere on their website does it say KTXD will have news. I can't imagine them wasting the time and money on that with this station.
It doesn't specifically mention KTXD, but it is in their Mission statement to have news, which could lead one to believe they would do it for 47.

. Yes, but London has no station quite like channel 47. It is highly unlikely they will boost the operating cost of that station by the astronomical amount it would take to compete with news in this market.
