KTAQ => KTXD?

They could outsource news to a sister station. It wouldn't be the first time a station's news is produced by a co-owned station in a smaller market.

So you're suggesting they're going to put on a newscast in market 5 produced by a station in market what.. 95? 130?
Uh.. no.. they're not.

It does seem like a rather pointless exercise, doesn't it? In any event, what purpose would news on channel 47 currently serve when we're already getting local English-language newscasts from five different newsrooms (KDFW/KDFI, KXAS, WFAA/KFWD, KTVT/KTXA, and KDAF)? It doesn't seem like a sixth news source would add much of any value to the market.

I doubt KTXD-TV will have news. Until announcing buying the station, the company has only entered markets where it purchased a network TV affiliate, so the mission about news for those stations make sense. I'm not sure how well they even update their corporate site...they changed the calls of KMAY-LD Bryan/College Station to KAGS-LD last May and since then have re-launched it with local news (kagstv.com) rather than just a relay of KCEN Temple/Waco (now operating it more like KBTX operates with its Waco parent KWTX-TV). The site still shows the old KMAY logo and calls under properties.

As I said earlier in the thread, I wonder if it will just become a MeTV affiliate at some point as London runs MeTV in each of its markets as a subchannel to one of their network TV affiliates.
I wonder, given the calls, if it will be branded as "My TX" as is done in other markets as well...though the programming varies on them (KCEN's "My TX" is mostly This TV with a simulcast of Galloway's KESN radio show; KYTX's "My TX" is now with MeTV after being Retro TV and independent before that; the Beaumont "My TX" is affiliated with MyNetworkTV).

Crook and Chase states "...we're coming soon to Denver and Dallas!", adding "...within the month, you'll be able to find us on KTXD in Dallas".

It appears they'll supplement MeTV with other syndicated fare. I'm eating crow because I really thought London would have just run it as a cheap pay-for-play money machine. I'm still convinced it'll be a struggle as the third English-language indy in a tough ad market.

Well that just blows. I was hoping for MeTV.
Lets hope whatever KTXD goes for its better than whats on there now.

Obviously there's nothing to say they can't put MeTV on a sub channel.
I was hoping to get MeTV on DirecTV, so I wouldn't have to resume my fight with the antenna.

I'm not familiar with Crook & Chase, but from the website it appears to be just one TV show, not an entire network. (Looks to me like a celebrity gossip show that concentrates on C&W music celebs.) KTXD could easily air both MeTV and Crook & Chase.

As for your antenna, KTXD/47 (RF 46) is a full-power station so it shouldn't give you too much trouble, even in McKinney. If you get KPXD/68 (RF 42) you should be able to get KTXD/47.

You know I don't get 68, but thats because I have the antenna fine tuned to get 33, for whatever reason if I want 33 nothing else comes in but 33.

As well, this ad posted yesterday....

"KTXD TV, Dallas-Fort Worth’s newest independent broadcast station, is looking to build a local sales team..."

I'm sure KTAQ/KTXD's signal is much better that KFWD, it wouldn't surprise me if they beat them out in the ratings.

London has closed on the sale and the call letters have changed to KTXD-TV (FCC database shows the call sign change effective 12/30). Looks like from the legal ID this morning, it will be branded as "K-Tex"

That's a good point, at least for OTA viewers: KFWD "52" is actually on a hard-to-receive VHF channel, subject to occasional interference from Waco (KCEN I think) when tropo conditions prevail.

It won't matter for cable/satellite viewers, whom I'm sure are the vast majority, but KTXD's OTA advantage might help them a little.

Just caught the 0100 legal ID and the liner, "K-Tex, we are Texas". The PSIP still shows "KTAQ-DT".

I dunno; The KTXD logo looks way better than the KTXS logo to my admittedly untrained eye.

Any word on if/when the programming will change?

I think it's actually started to change some. I've flipped over a few times lately to see what they're airing and I've noticed infomercials on when they were supposed to have religious programming. I also notice a few short spots between religious shows now that were not there before. I'm sure they're all p/i spots, but it's still something I have not seen on that station before.

The KTXD bug is now present in the upper right corner every time I've tuned in. The PSIP information still shows "KTAQ-DT" on the main 47-1 stream.

I've checked the TitanTV listings ahead through Thursday 1/26/2012 and 47-1 still has the same mixture of infomercials and paid religious programming.
