KTAR and ASU

I went to tonite's game, armed with my enormous 15x70 binocs and my portable radio and earbuds, I was ready.

But, they broadcast at least 10 seconds behind!

Seems like its always this way for the first game.

Lots of folk want to watch the game and listen, but it helps if they are in synch.

It was exceedingly bizarre to hear the live ASU Marchers'n'Shouters play the anthem while KT'R EFFEM played them on the delay.

Sadly, it didn't sound any worse than just listening to 'em live.

FWIW, the delay on XM was mind-numbingly long -- significantly longer than on terr-rad.

KT'R-FM is usually in a delay of :18 (language + digital).
You can tell by their TOH time tone coming up at 00:18
just before the ABC news sounder.

Last night they may have dumped (pun intended) the
language delay--I don't know if they use :07, :10, or
whatever for it--still leaving the digital delay in place.

If they turned off the digital on 92.3 they couldn't run
their HD1 main channel feed, nor whatever is on the
HD2 channel. What does KT'R run on HD2?

Of course, 92.3 is the "spill" frequency for when there
are two games on at the same time, or an overlap, so
perhaps they don't try to synch to real time. We won't
mention that the Master Blogger originally promised there
would be no sports PBP on Snooze/Talk 92/3 KT'R-FM.
(Oh yes we will.) BTW, is Russ still there?

Over on Sports Parking Lot 620, they usually turn off the
I-CRAP during Dbacks PBP, at least for home games.

Merely a broken promise from TMB. But he should never have made it as ASU & Cards PBP will draw more listeners than a weekend talk show. btw - Nurse Jeff wants to know if Monica Crowley is now one of the Satellite Sistahs??

Even Luvable Jay? ;)

Actually, I agree with you regarding weekends.

It's the weekday scenarios when (choose one or more of the following)...

Two games.
An overlap.
A "who signed this contract?" single team PBP simulcast on AM and FM.
The ridiculous four-hour pregame shows.

...spill backwards into afternoon drive, preempting the regular N/T...
ah, wait a minute...PM drive on KT'R-FM is Mac & Cheese and then
Beavis and Butthead (kudos to whomever gave 'em that nick) 6-7.
Maybe sports PBP would be just as good.
