KTAR and the Republic..deliberately missing history?

This Sat the Krepublic had an article about when KTAR radio was owned by the Republic from the 20s-40s and tying it to the current Mc12 News cabal. It had the history that KTAR was bought by the Louis family, who later bought KTYL-TV from Dwight Harkins and changed the calls to KVAR the KTAR, and that Gannett became the owner of channel 12 (and later the Repulsive) and the EVB crap. But apparently they deliberately skipped over the Karl Eller/Combined Communications era - the most important era due to the fact that CCC was one of the first multimedia companies in the country (TV/Radio/Outdoor/Newspapers/Magazines/Muzak). Maybe because of the way Eller was "terminated" a few years after the Gannett/Combined merger because of his ambitions? ::)

The Repugnant article left out the part about the KVAR(TV) calls. In case you want to see
the latest in journalistic excellence from the print side down at "200 EVB" (I wonder if
Charlie feels unclean every time he has to say that line in a Mc12 voice session?), here
is the on-line version of the story:

And since in the story they're trying to distance themselves from the era of the KREP calls,
I imagine smecc.org isn't too thrilled with them either.

It's mentioned now, at least by me in a talkback. He should have rummaged through the Old Gringo's basement. Those old Broadcasting Yearbooks are your friend. ;D

I've never seen the KREP call letters in any of the yearbooks of the time. Of course, since they lasted only a month or two, that's not all that surprising. The Repugnant probably has them in their radio listings of the time, but outside of that, I don't know anyone other than smecc.org that indicates that those calls ever existed. I'm sure the old FRC records are gone now.
