KTAR HD

On the FM side...

...KNIX and Kiss signed on their HD signals this past week.

Nothing like IBOC hash spilling all the way
to the second adjacent.

You're now probably out of luck if you want
to pull in KFI during critical hours.

If KFYI and KT'R were any closer together,
the Giant 580 would be toast in Phoenix.

What if Brian James had said "IBOC exciters"
instead of "illegals"...?

> on.

But off before specified April "sunset"
which is 7:00pm.

While dial-flipping about 6:50 I noticed
no IBOC hash from KT'R.

Did they turn it off at the start of the
D'Backs broadcast?

Not hearing any IBAC buzz on KTAR today, while it is quite pronounced on KFYIs first adjacents, 540,560.
What if anything does KNIX now do to second adjacent KAHM ??

KTAR only "tested" their IBOC system on Saturday. It hasn't been on since. Did the KVNA listening area notice?

KNIX's IBOC has been off since Saturday for reasons unknown. But, while it was on, KAHM was still listenable in the northwest Valley.

As for the question you put up last month, I did test KVIB's signal in Scottsdale since KYOT has been running IBOC for the past month. No interference I could notice.

Can you tell if Globe's 100.3 is running IBOC yet? iBiquity's website shows it as being on, but you could give me a better idea if they are or not.

Eric: Thanks for your update. Using my trusty HP spectrum analyzer, 100.3 is 70 db above the noise floor and shows NO signs of any digital sidebands here in Globe. They installed a second antenna last year just below the main. It is a Shively design, not matching the new ERI the installed on the main. I assume that is what they plan to use for IBAC. I can hear the second adjacent 100.7 KSLX just as before. Sure looks like they are waiting for the snow to clear before going on with it.
Many of the Ibiquity listings are incorrect inflating the real on-air count. Any signs of receivers, like the B.A. Receptor being available?? My last visit to Best Buy and Circuit City in Mesa yielded only blank stares when I asked about IBOC. Best Buy did have the standard mono B.A. receiver. Not very good sensitivity compared to other products on display.

Not to mention that some stations that are already on the air with IBOC are still not listed on the iBiquity site.

As for the Boston Recepter HD, Showcase Home Entertainment is now carrying the radio. I happened to get mine from Crutchfield a couple months ago. Strangely enough, I get all South Mountain FM IBOC stations on the air with just the wire antenna included with the unit (when positioned right), while the unit displayed at Showcase, which was connected to an outdoor antenna, could only pick up KYOT in HD. The Radiosophy, which ships in late summer, should have better sensitivity since they've been working on that issue.

By the way, KNIX's IBOC is now back on the air as of today.
