If true, this was well worth the wait, and KTAR should be congratulated for its Bold Decision to differentiate itself from the competition. At last, our talk radio market will have a right wing host who devotes the majority of his time to illegal immigration!
 
So, will he replace the obsolete and painfully dull Pat McBland, the goofy and dim Dead Simons, the worthless hour of nothing, or Heidi?

A closer look at the article on allaccess.com reveals the future KTAR employee is currently the morning man at KLIF. More likely there's a change coming up for morning drive on KTAR.
 
Yeah, the morning drive isn't going anywhere. Now that Ankarlo's buddy (Knapp) is gone, he realized he needed to get out before the new owners got their magnifying glass out to search for KLIF's ratings and realized he's part of the problem. His career, as referenced below, has included stops like Nashville and St. Louis, which is where he belongs. How he wound up in market #5 is beyond me, but the thinking that because he did mornings on KLIF he should do them on KTAR is flawed. Just like guys who do mornings in Milwaukee get night gigs when they move to Chicago, Ankarlo will be taking a lesser daypart by virtue of the fact that KTAR has morning listeners than KLIF. The fact that his current job is in an area with close to two million more people is irrelevant... having 0 listeners is the same from one market to the next/
 
kjcb seems to be right on the money...klif has been on a downhill slide for the last 5 ratings periods...and they never had any ratings to begin with. the last book a whopping 1.2. But I guess we should probably hear the guy before we pass judgement. Still..is this the BIG change we have all been waiting for????
 
The thinking at the Buckeye Media Hut is Ankarlo will take over the early afternoon talk show currently being put to sleep by Ded Simons. The new lineup: 5-9a News; 9-N McBland; N-3 Ankarlo; 3-6p News; 6-9p Sports Parking Lot 6~twenty Sportsline; 9-M, Gaydos. Of course all this changes on 1/01/07 as sports programming is moved to the Parking Lot. And that means TMISU need even more talkers for New 92~three, where Hip Hop used to live. If you want to hear something painfully bizzare, Nurse Jeff and I recommend NightSide on KSL 11~Sixty at night. (12~Sixty in Pt Hueneme) It's Beavis & Butthead meets Ned & Connie at Temple Square! :eek:
 
i agree with the doc. he's likely going where simons is. if he has a pulse it'll be a vast improvement.
 
I moved to Phoenix from Dallas two years ago and used to listen to Ankarlo a few times a week. Once he's on KT'R no one will be accusing them of toaster talk that's for sure. Hes very opinionated but no where near as hard core as Jacobs. Now the big question is where will they put him? My vote is head to head against Hannity. That will be a fun fight to watch. I like this move. Finally a talk show with opinions on KT'R.

Serbu was being sarcastic. He also hopes KTAR times Ankarlo's debut with a reprise of those awesome "cut through the crap" promos that make fun of other radio stations for having talk hosts with actual views on actual issues.

Why would a Mormon company hire a narcissistic, immoral phony like Ankarlo? He isn't opinionated, he's an impersonator. He impersonates Glenn Beck.
He is personally the worst hypocrite I have ever encountered, and immoral....ask the woman he sexually harassed in St. Louis. (Got canned from there for it... but it was hush-hush) He professes to be the most Christian guy when he is hateful and immature, and uses his sons service in Iraq to boost his ratings.
Nasty self-serving stuff.
Where's the KARMA??

I'll be happy to ask the woman in St. Louis. Who is she? If you don't have the name, please point us to some press on this. Even if it was hush-hush, there has to be some press, even if it's technically unsubstantiated. Or somebody there who's privy to what happened that might be persuaded to talk, now that he's been gone from there for a while. I'd like to investigate this a little bit.

Otherwise I'm inclinded to completely ignore any references to Ankarlo being run out of St. Louis for sexual harrassment.
 
As to an earlier post, I have listened to Ankarlo and state my conclusions based on a) his lousy ratings and b) his mediocre show. Yes, it is a bit a rip off of Glenn Beck, but then again, have you listened to Gaydos recently? (OK, bad question) His entire opening theme is a compilation of Beck's opener and various liner beds. Yeah, some of it is from actual songs, but how coincidental that so many production elements come together. The moral of both stories is simple: people without talent imitate those who do. Or at least try, in case of the latter.

The good Doctor forgot the hour of news creatively titled "The Noon News" on KTAR. So Ankarlo starts at 1, and PM news goes to 7. They could do worse, but hiring Ankarlo to compete directly with Hannity? Other than Hannity's soft stance on immigration and his endless "how are yous?", what will make someone want to listen to Ankarlo over the more highly rated, established, better produced, doesnt-play-promos-for-FM-being-the-best-place-for-news-every-three-minutes Hannity? Dr. Laura is live and would allow KT'R to keep the boring, values-minded 60-somethings and even attract the 30-somethings and women scanning to find the new Movin. Although gaybashing so close to Energy's mega-powered translator might not be so good...
 
Give a call to the Clear Channel station in St. Louis...guys still speak about the famous incident. (apparently he liked her BIG "boobs" (to put it nicely), he told her to her face.) The woman's name does not need to be blasted, she is the victim to this pompous ass who thought he was untouchable.
Since the firing... his wifey of 28 years has been having her praises sung by him on air everyday. Coincidence? Nah, she gives the evil eye to any of his female co-workers who are cute because she knows his MO.
He rides the fact that he has been married for 28 yrs- means he MUST be an amazing guy. Doesn't mention the intern/producer girl he "had" in NYC, leaving the family behind in PA while he conveniently lived away.
Believe what you want.
You'll see what you are getting.
He'll sue you for not following through anyway. IE:
Darrell Ankarlo sued KTRS (550 AM) for breach of contract.

While they're hiring bombastic wannabe talents, WRKO just fired John DePetro for calling some pol a "fat lesbian". Perfect for replacing McBland...
 
Now I can't wait to hear this guy. Sexually harrasses women. Sues his employer. Pompass a**. Could it get any better? This board has been buzzing for years about how KT'R needed to hire a talker with balls. It sounds like that's exactly what they've done. AND, not only does he have balls... sounds like he appreciates good racks as well.
