Is Karie Dozer still at KTAR? All I hear are her commercial endorsement spots.

Was Arizona News At Noon And Karie Dozer. Then it was Arizona News at Noon,
with Karie coming on at 12:30.

They've had Mike & Whiney, Mark Devine on 12:30-2 the last week or 10 days.
No mention at all about filling in for her, or Karie being out sick or on vacation.

Anyone know what is going on?

That's kinda what i thought. She was with KTAR a long time.

Hmmm...anyone know if it was voluntary or involuntary?

There's nothing on this anywhere. Probably get the stock "We don't discuss personnel/HR issues..." line.

After all, KTAR is only in the BROADCASTING business...

So it's safe to put KTAR back on the pre-sets? Woo-hoo-! Now if they could ditch Ramsey (nothing live or local about him) and go back to "the source" a little more often, maybe just maybe it could be a ratings juggernaut like it used to be. (Though I doubt anyone at I Heart Radio is losing sleep over KTAR's steady decline out of Top 5, out of Top 10, eventually into 960 or 1100 territory.)
 
i heard she left voluntarily because they wanted her to host a show by herself before the "two oclock take over by M and G"
 
The newscast from 12:00-12:30 is Ok, but from 12:30-2:00 it is dreadful.
Devine and Winey are bad enough, but Mike Russell is impossible to listen to.
Yet he seems tobe all over KTAR's airwaves...7 days a week.
If he is the "voice" of KTAR, then I'm afraid we are all in trouble...

Rob Hunter may have been forced out because he tried to help a veteran with depression.

Then Karie leaves becasue she can't/won't go solo.

They bring in Mike Russell with Winey or Mark Devane, who they fired from 98.7, which IMHO is just not the answer.

Mike ^ Winey on the weekend is OK, but Mike Russel seven days a week is just a bit too much.

Is Mike Russell now the voice of KTAR? I hope not.

They have had Mark Curtis from channel 12 with Stacy Brooks on this week, which is a huge improvement.

Would be nice if they remained, but...
 
Mark Curtis can't even pronounce "Arizona" correctly. How long has he lived here???
 
Great more re-runs of Dave Ramsey & his $100K a yr. idiots that can't manage their expenses.

Monday and Tuesday so far...at TOP noon and 1PM, they have not gone with ABC News.
They just have a staffer (Martha Mauer on Monday, Paul Ihander today) doing about a two minute (maybe) "newscast".
At bottom of the hour, they are doing roughly what they normally do.

Then it's all Dave...live...

Anyone have any ideas what might be coming in January?

Well IMO I think the station's overall quality has diminished in some areas while improved in others too.

Rob & Karier - 1-3 (my favorite segment)
Mac and Gaydos (3-7)

Weekends:
Mike & Winey - 12-3

Dave Ramsey - 12-2

Arizona Evening News - 6-7

Weekend:
Mike and Winey - 12-2 (and rarely do they list their stuff for podcasts anymore)
Get outdoors - 2-3

Rob and Karie had a great show that always discussed other lesser popular stories so that was always refreshing. Plus getting the 20 second take was really good to hear as it incorporated people to give more of the raw truth since they were under the pressure of the 20 second on-air timer. That's half the reason i stayed with the station because BSJ and M&G always rehashed the same stories throughout the day (sometimes 2 or 3 times in the same show) just with different opinions where Rob and Karie would discuss other items. I've always liked Mike and Winey's take on things as well but Mike Russell can be overbearing sometimes but that's radio I suppose. I love that they are both fairly blunt in their takes and even harsh because most of the other hosts give political answers to everything plus having Cooper Rummel on the show was nice. Trimming it down to only 2 hours to make room for the Get Outdoors show was; IMO, not a good move. I'm sure they were looking to invigorate new life/audiences into listening but I tried to give it a chance I couldn't get into it. The Agenda on Sunday evenings is good too as they will talk about lesser known stories or other "not so mainstream" topics. M&G also taking calls from listeners now was a good change as well. Also moving the daily download to every 3 hours instead of 2 was a good move as well but the 5pm hour is literally a 2pm hour take 2. Beneficial to some listeners I'm sure but not for me. The other positive thing? When the main hosts are out they really do have some good fillers sometimes. Always enjoy Monica Lindstrom anytime she is on the air. Mark Curtis is good too along with Stacey Brooks as well but having Mike Russell fill in for everything is too much. Let's hope the station is heading in a better direction soon.
 
I'd rather listen to re-runs of Preston Westmoreland rather than that huckster Dave Ramsey.

Couldn't agree with you more. The way they dumped Westmoreland after 25 years, was no class at all.
I think it was the beginning of their descent.

Ramsey pays the freight, I guess. I just cannot believe that a market like Phoenix is unable to be any more sophisticated
than having a hillbilly money guru on for what - half their schedule?

It seems Rob Hunter has been doing fill-in on KFYI...also doing some newscasts. Could he possibly be switching
gears from talk to doing news?

Gotta check that out. Rob Hunter was one of the reasons I stayed tuned in to KTAR.
