KTAR picks-up Tim and Willy

If I were a betting man, I would put money on Tim and Willy ultimately doing mornings at The Peak. In fact, Willy bears a striking resemblance to Mr. Peakerman. ;D

The Nurse and I will be monitoring Pat McBland's interview and will let everyone know if it was raining where Tim & WIlly were when they quit KNIX! We keep having these flashbacks about K-J Country 92~Three and wonder what song the Master Blogger will play after the interview? It's Five O'Clock Somewhere would be just the thing we need to break out the hot buttered rum at the Buckeye Media Hut! ...hmmm come to think about it, Country on FM and Talk on AM makes a lot of sense!

Will kfyi let you listen to ktar on their time? Tim and Willy aren't going to the peak and ktar is only saying their gig is temporary as in filling in for Mac when he's out. But it looks like Ned and Connie's days are over in the morning.

SDmbbrdm,

Tim and Willy would be a shot in the arm for The Peak's ratings. With Pratt on contract with KMLE, I'm not sure where else they would/could land a [respectable] morning show job...especially if they don't want to leave Arizona.

If I am the PD at The Peak, I would be lobbying hard to sign Tim and Willy to do mornings. The KTAR gig looks like an overture by TMISU to lure Tim and Willy to The Peak.

I'd love to hear what others think about where Tim and Willy might end up. Am I missing something?? RadioGuy, help me out! ;D

Actually today we were board op-ing at Lumberyard 14~Forty and had plenty of time to listen. Nurse Jeff and I'd prefer to see the Master Blogger's days up before Ned & Connie's. They're just doin' what he asks.

If KT'R replaces Ned and Connie with Tim and Willy, it should drop 'News' out of its name. They replace Noon and Afternoon news blocks with talk. If morning news goes away, so should the News title.

Don't forget: Tim & Willy replacing Mac Watson on Wednesday (2 Jan) and Friday (4 Jan)

i liked listening to 92.3 this week, with their wheel of hosts. tim & willy one day, austin hill (solo) another day, mac the next; tuning-in not knowing what to expect.

tim & willy sound great doing lifestyle-type o talk on 92.3 as fill-in, imo. i bet they end-up doing mornings on 98-7 the peak.

less glenn beck would be nice. maybe just a best of beck for the weekend.?

austin hill (solo) mid-days.

Can someone please explain something to me about this whole Tim & Willy affair?

The Arizona Republic has given these two guys more ink over their KNIX departure/KTAR debut in the past couple of weeks than any other morning show has gotten...ever! Right now there's yet another story about T&W on AZ Central, right below the headline about the Iowa Presidential caucus.

I know morning guys who would saw off a limb or two just to get half the coverage that Hattrick and DeLoon have been given just for being fired.

What the hell?

As somebody who has never taken the time to listen to KNIX, let alone Tim & Willy, I think some answer to your question, Ford, is all in their publicity over the years. If you showed me a picture (even during my pre-radio junkie years) of those two guys, I could easily have identified them as Tim & Willy. It's very likely that Arizonans have seen them many mornings on 3 TV, so it didn't even take a KNIX listener to think of these guys as funny and likeable. Also, that KNIX billboard where Grand Ave. passes over I-17 (I believe it still advertised the morning show), has been there for YEARS. I remember it even when I was really young. I guess what I'm getting at is this: In a way, Tim & Willy are like a part of Phoenix or even Arizona, if that isn't too cheesy...

* yawn *

A loyal following they may have, but filling 3 hours with cackles and giggles is a bit much… …that in addition to repeated pronouncements (forgiving getting the call letters wrong on an intermittent basis, which is probably to be expected) of "we don't know X", "we don't know Y", etc.…

Agreed.

One thing's for sure...the Master Blogger has confused the daylights out of any remaining KT'R listener. He just might as well hire T&M and start playing Country Music. His odds against KNIX might be better than against KFWhyEye!

Willy...De Loon!

I can't fathom the sophistication of that humor. He has a wacky last name, that must mean its quality humor. ::)

Yeah, the plugs have been so thick one would think KT'R was owned by Gannett. ;)

The nom de radio was derived from his being part of Brandmeier's band
many years ago, as noted recently by another poster here on the board.

I know, it makes it all the more pathetic to hang on to a wacky name from a long forgotten radio host who abandoned PHX.

Grown men don't use wacky names, its 2008.

That's not a nice thing to say about Crazy Kid! ;)
You use the name that brought you to dance. Or you slowly try to migrate back to your real name/another nickname. Just ask Scooter Libby.

Its just stupid.

I don't go to a lawyer named P-Master Justice or a doctor named Wacky Proctologist.

In fact, the only comedian I can think of with a goofy name is Bob Zany, and he is anything but.

Soooooo without the wacky name, you'd go to Willie for medical and legal advice?

Would you listen to a Morning Show called "Phillips and Associates?"

Seems like 1996.

And it also seems like Toaster Talk has an internet version - only less interesting.

Is it still irrelevant where you are?

Ah, thanks for coming and once again showing us how superior and utterly humorless you are. It's comforting to have folks like you, its kinda like Margaret Dumont in a Marx Brothers movie.
