KTAR sports coverage this weekend...

1) Saturday night, during their coverage of the ASU / Arizona debacle, something seemed to have gone wrong with the audio on KTAR-FM. During the 7:00 hour (maybe about 7:20?), the background audio from Arizona Stadium disappeared. It almost sounded like the announcers (sorry for not remembering their names) were sitting in a room, providing the play-by-play by watching a TV on mute. In the background, I could hear someone else's voice - it kind of sounded like he was talking on his cell phone. Also, a commercial began playing, but it was stopped halfway to return to coverage of the game.

Shortly after things returned to normal, the main announcer said something along the lines of "to our network stations, we owe you an extra local break, and we will try to get that to you as soon as possible". Does anyone know what happened?

2) Late Sunday afternoon, around 5:15, I noticed that both KTAR and KTAR-FM were carrying the Cardinals game. Was it like this for the whole game? Or did one station (which one?) join the game in progress at some point? And why was it done this way? Was it because of the historic nature of the game? (For those that don't know, the Cardinals clinched their division for the first time since 1975, they will be making the playoffs for the first time since 1998, and they will host a playoff game for the first time since 1947!)

On a related note, it was very classy of the station to dedicate both sports broadcasts to the late Tom Dillon. I enjoyed hearing the various announcers' comments and memories of Dillon, along with some of the flashbacks to games that Dillon covered.
