KTAR's Best Talker

Hands down it's gotta be Brian Whitfill, who does the Sunday morning gardening show. He moves the calls along...has plenty of energy...and steers away from politics. The guy is a flat natural for radio, but he's probably making more money planting trees. Whitfill also throws in more than just bumper music...he'll play some music when the calls aren't there, and it's usually pretty good stuff. Case in point: Stripes by Brandy Clark. This show rocks and is a welcome change from Beans 'n Rice and that goofball financial planner who makes chunky chocolate chip cookies.

Oh, he also pronounces the vowel in the station's call letters. Something a lot of the KT'R staffers don't know how to do.

Probably? How about definitely. Usually these weekend warriors do these shows as infomercials for their business or as labors of love. I recently spoke with a guy who does a weekend dog show and he just loves talking about his favorite subject on the radio. Talk radio used to have more of this.
