KTBU 55-Houston Sold!

> Look for changes to come within 90 days!

Interesting to see that Belo was in the hunt. They may turn their attention to 49 or 51. A potential result of 55 going to a new group is that it might heat up the competition amongst 2, 11, and 13 for a duopoly partner, since 49 and 51 are the only full power stations that are or might be on the block. Look for some movement on those two this year, especially 51--gonna be like a game of musical chairs--you don't want to get left out.

I was amused at the "state of the art television facility" in reference to the old News 24 building. From what I understand, much if not most of the equipment has been sold off. KTBU will have to do a lot of moving and replacing. Still, there's a lot of room to work with, in what is a much larger and probably more secure facility. The old location seemed like it could be pretty scarey at night.

Despite the denial, I would bet that at least some America One programming makes it on the air on 55.

It will be 12-18 hours of paid programming. The demand and revenue potential is much higher than trying to outprogram 10 other over-the-air stations and 550 cable stations. At $700-$2500 an hour on that station why would you do try to compete where you can't.

On the other hand.. if you've invested in programming for America One, why not give it a lot of exposure in a top 10 market?

I agree...why would you buy a station and just to run infomericals like the current owners are doing?

Look for some America One mixed with local and syndie programming.

I agree, that is a weak website. I think Mr Chuck over there is trying to hint at the fact that there is already America One programming on channel 55

When TV55 debut five or so years back they had a 'classic TV' running from 5a til 1a. Pity on what it looks like now. Classic TV now only runs 7.5 hours. wow.
