KTEA is back - in all but call letters

Looks like the AC "Magic" format at the former KTEA 103.5 Cambria/San Luis Obispo CA (now KMGQ) lasted all of seven weeks. The station has returned to its old Adult Standards format, but will be retaining the KMGQ calls as the KTEA calls were snapped up by someone else.

Interesting to see a station that dropped the format RETURN to it... especially since San Luis Obispo also has the Dial Global format on KKJL "K-Jewel" AM/FM translator.

I was expecting a Conservative Talker with those calls, K-TEA Party. ;D

Not sure why, but in a panic Jim seized control of the station. Post Rock Communications had an LMA with him and apparently was fulfilling all of the obligations under the agreement. They also had advertising contracts in place for KMGQ.

I know in the past, Jim Kampschorer would list KTEA with a broker and whenever anyone would show serious interest in the station, he'd pull it off the market.

Expect a lawsuit to come out of this.

Jim got the KTEA call letters back. He traded KMGQ for them. Since Post Rock had been branding the station "Magic 103.5" prior to the repossession, trading the calls will only add fuel to the fire on this issue (as far as I know the LMA is still in place and the two parties have not settled).
