KTFM - Black/White/ What?

I don’t get it, but maybe some one can clear this up for me?

KTFM, Jammin 94 One, Jammin 94.1, Number One for Oldies....whatever,etc?

Here is radio station that is owned by a Hispanic company, who’s main guy calls himself the “Head Mexican in Charge”, operating in a market that is almost 70% Hispanic, yet for some reason they seem to target the 80 thousand or so Black people in their community instead?

To no one’s surprise, they don’t even do that well.

If the Black Community were truly their focus they would put Tom Joiner on in the Mornings and moving their High Rated Night Chick to the afternoons. Oh yeah, and screw all that Freestyle music they’ve been adding, who are they trying to kid? They are all over the place.

Then again that would explain their lackluster ratings. Do they really wonder why they’re not getting anywhere fast?

I hear from several people over there that the new Jingle Package personally supervised by Program Director Robyn Florez is HORRIFFIC! [EDIT].

Is KTFM ever going to be able to get it together before they realize its time to change the Perry/Florez Programing Combo that’s been keeping down for the past 2 or 3 years?

Good Luck San Antonio?

San Antonio is 50.5% Hispanic of which a third are Spanish dominant, so the percentage that might use an English station is about 32% of the market, not 50%.

I have to agree with you Sadra. I don't know how Robin gets away with it! If I had a dime for everytime he contradicted himself, I'd be a millionaire! He pulled the same crap in Austin. I swear it got to a point where I wanted to carry a tape recorder and secretly record him to prove what a loon he was! I see he's pulling the same crap in SA. He must work cheap...because he manages to keep his job!

I agree. Jammin 94.1 is all over the road with no real direction.

From Funk, Freestyle, R&B, Disco, Cruisin Classics....someone please fire the PD. There's mass confusion not to mention an identity crisis.

I've heard the samething. How sad.

BMP missed out on an excellent opportunity. For atleast two weeks in the beginning of April, Jammin 94.1 was the talk of the town. Once Fiesta came around, everyone forgot about the whole under construction b/s. And a month later, they still don't have it together.

If you have HD Radio in S.A. Check out Mix 96.1 in HD-2. Nice mix of Dance, Old School and some R&B with little repeats.

So what are they doing wrong other than no whites on the air? Specifics please. Which songs are wrong.

I do find it amazing though Bob Perry is still there. Talk about someone resting on yesterday's laurels.

Yeah Little Davey...OFFICIALLY it may be 50.5% Hispanic but i'm willing to bet you a Taco it's more like 70%

Here's a shocking and so so correct suggestion... bring back former PD Cliff Treadway "The Janitor."

Problem SOLVED! (In moments)

But, are the people in charge smart enought to do it? THAT is the question!

Even if that is true, and the data is from the Census updated annually by the Census and Claritas, the fact is that Arbitron samples based on 50.5% of the diaries going to Hispanics, with 30% of those going to Spanish dominant Hispanics and 70% going to English dominant or bilingual Hispanics.

Right. Bob currently has 3 stations in the top 6 in Mexico City, a market with over 60 full signals. That's certainly "yesterday". Not.

I wasn't referring to Mexico City Little Davey. Kinda funny to see you defend bob since bob thinks you're a real nut-case and overrated programmer. Just ask Steve.

I would not ask Steve for the time of day. On the other hand, Bob has had an amazing success (and a recent one as well) in steering a traditinal, conservative, family run company in Mexico into being a major player not just in Mexico City but in many of the top 25 markets in Mexico.

You spoke of "resting on yesterday's laurels" yet Bob's Digital, Amor and Mix in Mexico City each cume nearly 2 million persons... today!

You did not say that; you added it now after the fact. In any case, what difference does it make?
