KTFM Block Party

PS...Perhaps KTFM is scratching the promoter on a weaker show hoping to get some love when a BIG SHOW is available.

Just a thought.

Homeo...

T-shirts, Billboards, Keychains, Coffee Mugs, Hats etc...
Are a branding tool.

The idea is to keep your station top of mind.
To add a hipness to your station.

Dumbies like Jerry Clifton, Drake, Birkhart and Abrams, have been using them for oh....40 years or so.
The beat has t-shirts, Magic 105 has t-shirts, KQ has t-shirts, KONO has t-shirts, KZEP, etc etc...Yeah we are all just kinda dumb.
It was never meant that you give someone a t-shirt and you get a point in the arb.

for all the money spent on that crap u never see any of it anywhere. last guy i saw wearing a station shirt was a dude with a mullet walking around with a 99-5 kiss shirt on. not the kind of moving billboard id want. like always u clearly missed the point. had u thought about my comment for more than 3 seconds u might have learned something.

T-shirts do not equate to listeners ...

Homeo...It's not what you say...it is how you say it. If you really want to make a point-make it, don't just call me stupid, dumb etc...

You may not see them (subjective), I see Beat T-shirts all the time, and KISS (who else listens but guys with mullets-JOKE),
not to mention the bumperstickers...

You are making what amounts to a STRAW MAN argument. I never said these items = numbers.

Just that todays stations are so cheap they wont even give away these small items.

If a station wont give you a lousy t-shirt, I doubt they can come up with much else either...That is my point.

Crappy Lawn seat tix (fighting the ants), Value Movie Passes, Spin the Wheel and walk away with a plastic bag with our logo on it.

People may wait in line to spin some wheel for bogus nothing stuff, but how many times before they catch on?

They should at least make a joke of it and call those wheels the wheel of crap.

That is better than T-shirts? On what planet?

i gotta go with homeo on this one. shirts will never and has never provided realistic proof of cume.

its actually a kinda boring promotion... been done and done and done.

no station should really rely on it as a serious means of promotion.

where are all the revolutionary ideas in radio?

now we're stuck with phrase that pays type deal going on every 15 years.

im not talkin down on KBBT just using that promotion as a example.

stickers and shirt give-aways are kind of the same deal in a sense, and are used over and over. listerens want more. they want something more than a insignificant sticker that on the back of their car that they will never interact with and more than a station shirt they will only wear on wash day when nothing else is clean.

radio needs some fresh new ideas instead of old played out regurgitated used ones.

Mind-Homeo

CUME was not the goal.

I never told either one of you radio brothers that it was, nor did I say T-shirts is how you win.

I was trying to get the point across that today's promotions are even cheaper than the T-shirts you both loathe.

Question...what innovative promotion has replaced the T-shirts in San Antonio?

NONE.

maybe ur seeing beat t's because u hang out in da ghetto. i have never seen one on a listener. so go recommend to all stations that they spend lots of money on tshirts. please do it. make them spend their money on them.

trowdown where is all that talk about how great ktfm is these days?

KTFM is sounding great, Would like to see the 18-34 female numbers.

I never said spend lots of money...on t-shirts.

I am saying spend some money on something.

It takes money to make money.

Making money out of nothing - now that is a pipedream...I mean that is Clear Channel.

Listeners are bored with radio because radio does nothing for them anymore.

Hey, this is Mo' Bounce...I used to work at MIX 96.1.

Not to be cocky by any means...but my t-shirts were being worn and were in demand at remotes/events many times. Not because of me by any means...nor the station...its because it had a "cool" catchphrase on the front.

They were black t-shirts with my logo and station logo on the back...

But on the front it said" "You Looked Better On MySpace" ... That is what made the t-shirt and that's what made people want it and actually wear it. Maybe stations should focus more on things like this? I thought it was pretty cool.

Plus, at one time the OUTLAW t-shirts were pretty awesome! The station name was made to mimic the Jack Daniels logo...and that made that t-shirt in demand as well. Noone cares about "reppin" a station. It's about what makes it cool...and your logo is just a bonus and secondary. IMO.

okay I am gonna poke fun at everyone... create your own

"KTFM, now used as a torture method for countless criminals across the globe."

"97.7, we say the word KISS waaaaay too much"

"Power 106.7 we play real Hip Hop. Herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrres Fergie"

"Mix 96.1 we used to have a rainbow logo "

Okay I coulda been way harsh but I didnt. I had one for the Beat but it was rude. I'm not tryin to be an ass, this is just all in good fun.

suprisingly i agree with mo bounce and mindonradio.

trowdown what job do u do at ktfm?

Hey Homeo, aren't you the same guy who keeps bringing down the Beat and have some big thing against them? If I remember correctly, last I remember you were throwing daggers at Romeo from The Beat.

Stevie B (real name Steven Bernard Hill) is a African-American singer, songwriter, and record producer that was highly influential in the Latin freestyle and High-Energy, mostly from Miami and San Jose dance music scene of the late 1980s. Referred to by many as "The King of Freestyle", Stevie B is perhaps best-known for his 1990 number-one hit "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)".

[edit]Career

Born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Stevie B worked a variety of jobs--from car washing to fast food--before gaining recognition for his 1987 national club smash "Party Your Body". It was also the title track of his 1988 debut LP, which eventually went gold due to the huge success of "Spring Love". In 1989, he had his first top 40 hits with "I Wanna Be the One," "In My Eyes," and "Love Me For Life." With his 1990 album, Love & Emotion, he reached the height of his success, with the accompanying single "Because I Love You" enjoying four weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in December of 1990. He had two subsequent top 15 hits with "I'll Be by Your Side" and the title cut. However, with the subsequent rise of alternative rock, Stevie B's light dance-pop sound lost much of its initial mainstream appeal, and he never recaptured his earlier success. In 1998, The Best of Stevie B was released, highlighting the light dance-pop sound that marked the start of his career.
In 2007 Stevie B and Rapper Pitbull did a remake of his hit song "Spring Love" titled "Spring Love 2007". His latest collaboration is with newcomer The Chili Guy. The Chili Guy is perhaps best known from his appearances on the popular afternoon drive radio program "Toucher and Rich" (heard locally in Boston on 104.1 WBCN).
In 2008 Stevie B joins the digital revolution by releasing his newest single "Running For Miles" on his own digital download site ([2]).
Stevie B is currently in the studio recording a duet with Greek pop sensation Super Star G for her highly anticipated American debut, "Where the Gnomes Roam."

For some reason I thought that Stevie B may have been Hispanic, but he's African American.

I believe someone questioned KTFM target audience earlier in this post. Tonight-Over 90% of the crowd at the KTFM Rewind Block Party was Hispanic. Over half the crowd was female. I will say it was too damn HOT!!! Most of the crowd arrived after sunset.

That was tonight?

DAMN!

How did I miss a show with artist who havent done anything for almost 20 years!?!?

Horrible, just horrible.

San Antonio is so lame.

Ummm ok...lame?

Don't knock it because you don't like the artists or you have something against the station. The damn thing was FREE!!!! There were plenty of people down there having a good time and not one fight broke out. It was a nice big drunkfest and I loved it!!

What's so lame about SA?

What's so lame about SA?

1. You must be drunk and/or high to find San Antonio entertaining.
2. People drive too damn slow on the freeways.
3. Too many fat ugly chicks in tight clothing.
4. That KTFM event might have been a free drunkfest, but come on. I bet there was not one single girl that was under
120 pounds, with a minimal amount of make-up, or under 25. I'd rather pay for a better atmosphere. No fight breaking
out-must have been a blue moon out that night.
and 5: the radio stations suck. My CD collection is what ends up playing in my car stereo when I visit after scanning
the airwaves seeing if anything has changed in the SA radio market.

Now I am going to go back to the Houston boards and complain how there is no active rock here.

That's strange....didn't you agree on the Houston board with Will210 that Cox Radio stations are better here than there??

In fact, here's exactly what you said

Quote from: Will210 on July 10, 2008, 06:30:30 am

Unless your in San Antonio, Texas Cox radio sucks. KISS/KONO/KCYY and KSMG sound better (I leave Power 1067 out because their just like to other cox radio stations.

Posted by: sdh483-I agree except for Magic. Their playlist is horrible.

Posted by: sdh483-1. You must be drunk and/or high to find San Antonio entertaining.

Yeah, I guess and 20+ million people that visit the city every year must find it boring also.

I could continue criticizing your post but it's not worth it. Get a life and stick to the Houston board.
