KTFM - IRONIC ?

IRONIC ?
After BMP announced they had bought KTSA and JACK FM , The “Chief Mexican in Charge” as he called himself, C.E.O. Tom Castro took some corporate big wigs to their new stations at 4050 Eisenhauer Rd. Before they made their grand entrance, Castro insisted everyone wear a Mexican Sarape (a poncho) to show their new employees that the BMP Mexicans were taking over.
Here it is, less than a year later, Castro himself has be de-throwned and replaced by a Non-Hispanic and as in the story of the Alamo, the BMP Mexicans may have won the fight but are now loosing the battle.

Like many other corporate conglomerates, BMP was all about the bottom line when it came to paying its talent. Many make below average salaries. While Castro was busy having his face splattered on industry magazines all over the country, the running joke among his employees was “While Catsro is pushing the corporate millions, his employees are push starting their cars”.

Today, rumors abound that KTFM will flip format soon and that heads are still rolling. Among the latest to go News & Traffic Icon Betsy Britton who was cut from the staff last week along with several others. Rumor also has it that almost all of the original people who came here with Castro from Houston, Austin and places beyond, will also be out of a job soon.
Though BMP has three of their stations tied for 12th place in the latest P2 - 12+ at a 3.0, not one of their stations is in the Top 10. A less than stellar showing for what BMP considers its flagship market.

Yesterday's poor attendance at the huge Old School Concert KTFM had may be a sign of the times. It may just be the omen they need to scrap the whole "old school" thing and star all over again.

Since the changes started many people have been let go but, maybe it was the ones who left on their own before all the changes who were trying to tell us what a mess BMP was already in.
