KTFM-San Antonio

CHRles said:
Agreed. This is a fun station to listen to.

I've listened through 8 songs so far, and only one of them has been played recently (if ever) on my market's Rhythmic AC (KMVA "MOViN' 97.5"/Phoenix). Not saying that KMVA should or shouldn't play these songs - it's just nice to hear different songs in this format. Here are the 8 songs:

- That song with the cash register ring sound from the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire with a chorus that includes the lyrics "All I wanna do is..."
- Justin Timberlake - Cry Me a River
- Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
- Color Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up (the version that starts with "hey...beautiful lady")
- Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
- Usher - Yea (this is the one song duplicated with KMVA)
- A freestyle song that I don't recognize
- Ace of Base - Don't Turn Around (WOW!!! Don't think I've heard this one on the radio since it was a CHR hit back in 1994!)

After listening to KTFM for a while longer -- and checking their song log on yes.com -- I've concluded that this is my favorite Rhythmic AC. The variety is so much better than the typical station attempting this format. They are much more open to playing songs that could be considered "pop with a beat" from the last 20-25 years, instead of being so focused on R&B-oriented hits. And the inclusion of dance artists like Corona, Lisette Melendez, Real McCoy, Planet Soul, etc. is a welcome change.

I suspect that this station actually researched its local market and is playing songs that were big on the original KTFM. Is that true?

I would say you are correct Scott,,, the original KTFM on 102 was a dance leaning station before they got all Ghettoed out to sound like 98.5 The Beat....

This is thee best Rhythmic AC station ive ever heard,,, Very Dance Friendly and not much if any Disco... This would be a great station to have here in Indiana were a Pure Dance with all currents wouldnt work.
