KTFM Sounds Great!

I recently went to San Antonio over the 4th of July Weekend. KTFM Sounds great...Better than Magic 105 for sure. It is a mix of Rythmic AC, Top 40, and Hot AC in it's imaging and presentation. Just Hot AC enough to get the Magic listeners, Top 40 enough to get some Mix listeners and Rythmic AC enough to keep the listeners who grew up listening to the original KTFM back in the 80s and 90s. I never tuned away despite Country music being my overall fav music...KJ being far and away the best Country station is San Antonio...it amazes me the Y100 is even competitive with KJ in the ratings.

KTFM is on it's way back up. According to the Winter Book, KTFM saw a huge increase. IMO, KTFM will continue it's upward climb and eventually be in Top 3. One thing that KTFM lacks is air talent. Besides, the Morning Show there's not much there.

I couldnt disagree with you more.

Yeah they did see an increase but so do most new stations. Especially one with historic calls like that. I think they will go up a little more and stay medicore or fall.

Top 3? Not unless the entire city starts smoking crack

They do lack talent but their morning show is also included. That show is about as hard to listen to as watching that awful OUR PART OF TOWN TALENT SHOW on public access.

My opinion

I have to agree with M...247, the new KTFM stinks, unless you're a 20-something, juvenile, female metrowhatever. Relative to the time shift, the new KTFM doesn't sound anything like the old KTFM. I recall the old KTFM playing a sprinkling of socially acceptable hiphop and rap, but nothing compared to what the new KTFM plays. I know because I still have days worth of tapes dating from the late '80s up to its mutation into K-ROCK. But what do I know. I'm not in the radio business and no one listens to me. I'm just supposed to be a mindless robot who's told what to listen to and what's supposed to be 'HOT' and I'm not supposed to channel surf during commercials and actually spend my money on the crap thats advertised. I tried to listen to the KTFM morning show, because I remembered that Woody guy used to be on 96FM before the current kiddiechat show appeared. One is just as boring and childishly pottymouthed as the other. But if one is looking for morning chat with a little more sophistication, there's the two old dudes still trying to keep up with the youngsters who worship 'the 100,000 watt blowtorch of south texas'. Or you can endure the hers and his housewife show on Tragic 105.3 (how do they stay on the air???). I guess its just another post from a corporate cheerleader sent to spike interest where none exists. No wonder OTA radio is dying and all the kids are walking around with tiny matchboxes loaded with 10,000 of their favorite songs w/o DJs or commercials.

Young people still prefer radio over that IPOD thing. Young people still love DJs with personality over just plain music...it gives your entertainment excitement. Not that IPODs and such have taken a lift....just look at Surius/XM...how pathetic after what 5 years or so now.

I'm sorry man but you must be clueless.

1) Young people perfer IPODs over radio any day of the week. Why listen to the same 15 songs when they can hear what they want when they want?

2) Young people can care less about DJs. The average listener doesnt care about the jocks, their bits, their egos, only the music.

If you think otherwise.... I'm sorry but you are wrong.

MiniDon is sadly correct. Hate, hate, hate to admit it because it is radio's fault for overlooking the young demo for over a decade already. THAT is why the iPod has become their first coice. We blew it.
