Looking at the yes.com top 100 chart, I notice a much heavier dance lean than before on KTFM. The overall playlist looks more dance friendly than most of the CHRs across the country.

Usher ft Pitbull - DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love
Edward Maya ft. Vika Jigulina - Stereo Love
Flo Rida ft. David Guetta - Club Can't Handle Me
Far East Movement - Like A G6
Taio Cruz - Dynamite
David Guetta ft. Kid Cudi - Memories
Black Eyed Peas - The Time (The Dirty Bit)
Chris Brown - Yeah 3X

And in the rest of the top 100:
Usher ft. Will.I.Am - OMG
Pitbull ft. T-Pain - Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)
Ke$ha - Take It Off
Enrique Iglesias ft. Ludacris - Tonight
David Guetta - Sexy Chick
Mike Posner - Please Don't Go
Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me
Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart
Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow
Dev ft. The Cataracs - Bass Down Low
Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
Enrique Iglesias - I Like It
Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway
Taio Cruz - Higher
Ne-Yo - Closer
Nina Sky - Move Ya Body
Yolanda Be Cool vs D-Cup - We No Speak Americano
Richard Vission & Static Revenger ft. Luciana - I Like That

With the exception of perhaps Afrojack and Richard Vission (yet there are some stations playing these songs), there are many stations that are playing all of these songs.

Not true. Out of the 4 major cities in Texas, Houston and SA are both Dance friendly cities.

Dallas- KISS 106.1 and I93...yawn.
Austin- KHFI....Is running premiere on weekends similar to Mix 96.1.

IMO, Hot 95.7 and KTFM both sound better than Dallas and Austin KISS stations.

By the way, anyone know what version KTFM is playing of Taio Cruz-Dynamite?

?

All you have to do is look at the playlists for any/all stations on radiotime.com or actually listen to the stations online to see how many stations are playing these songs.

The logs on those websites are not 100% accurate. For instance, if a station is playing a remix version of a song it will not say it's a remix, it will just provide the title of song and artist. This has been mentioned on several boards.

That's why I said "OR listen to the stations online".

I understood before posting added some songs that are getting widespread airplay on CHRs across the country. However if you look at KTFM's playlist, especially during the evening and overnights, you'll notice a much higher concentration of uptempo songs than on most other stations.

The point of the thread was just happy to point out that I believe this is the most dance-friendly KTFM has sounded since the launch of their format. That is indisputable. They are still far from being the most dance friendly station in the country, however they are definitely more dance friendly than most CHRs and even rhythmics.

Last night's mix show was also the most dance intensive I've heard the station. Here's the playlist for the first hour:

Taio Cruz ft. Travie McCoy - "Higher"
Rihanna - "Only Girl (In The World)"
Afrojack ft. Eva Simons - "Take Over Control"
Enrique Iglesias ft. Ludacris - "Tonight"
Flo Rida ft. Ke$ha - "Right Round"
Deadmau5 - "Ghosts 'N' Stuff"
Far East Movement ft. The Cataracs & Dev - "Like A G6"
Pitbull - "Hotel Room Service"
Black Eyed Peas - "The Time (Dirty Bit)"
David Guetta ft. Kid Cudi - "Memories"

KTFM SHOULD DAYPART SOME 90'S SONGS THAT WERE BIG WHEN STEVE CHAVEZ WAS MD...

MARIAH CAREY, MIGHTY DUBB CATS, TRES DELINQUENTES, TLC, BOYS 2 MEN, BRANDY, DESTINY'S CHILD ETC

THESE SHOULD BE THEIR HERITAGE CAT AND THEY NEED TO THROW IN SOME JOHHNY Z, AND DJ LAZ AND BUFFY ETC...

NOT THAT THEY ARE NATIONAL HITS, BUT MORE FOR THE HISPANIC FLAVA THAT MADE THIS STATION SOUND LIKE SAN ANTONIO.

JUST A THOUGHT

Please, no.

I don't know if I agree with reintroducing the older titles back at KTFM. They already tried that when they where a Rhythmic AC and that caused them to flip into a Hot AC.

There is still plenty of heritage freestyle music during their mixshows, though.

Haters...

If they do not flavor hispanic then they are just another lilly white top 40 like Mix.

You have to reflect the ethnicity and tastes of the people of the market.

Mix sounds like any other top 40/chr from Denver to Austin to LA.

KTFM is breaking away from that but only slightly.

SAME OLE = WHO CARES.

LATER HATER

I figured KTFM was more Hispanic friendly than Mix. When in town, I take a listen to KTFM, and the stations sounds a lot like a blend of Wild 94.9 in San Francisco, which has more rhythmic/CHR tracks in its playlist, and 103.5 KTU in New York, which is more dance friendly.

Have to? And yet KXXM has double the AQH of KTFM.

Fred....

KTFM lacks consistency. Mix has been doing what they do a long time, not that the music doesn't shift or lean back and forth based on market trends.

I am sorry Mix does not sound San Antonio in any way.

In fact the idea that all of CC's stations can take the place of one another regardless of the market they are in is the whole problem with the industry.

Radio should be homegrown, and Fresh not Corporate and COOKIE CUTTER. It is easy to win when the competition keeps flippin formats every year.

I'm really digging the current mix of music.

KTFM sounds really good...I love the mixture of Dance, Pop and a splash of Hip Hop. I just wish KTFM had a strong morning show but ehhh, oh well, so be it.
