KTIB officially on open market

Looks like KTIB is officailly on the market for $550k ..... Only station fitting description .. low dial position (640khz), runs 5kwday/1kw night and was running a news/talk format before it died....Wonder what religious groups gonna try for this one? (even though it will need a few grand of improvements to put it back on without a STA)http://broadcaststations4sale.com/sale.htmlLOUISIANA... Mid-size city. Station has a very low dial position and has vast coverage. Covering Baton Rouge, Houma, Thibodeaux, Morgan City and Iberia, LA. 5,000 watts day and l,000 watts night with a news talk format. Comes with 37 acres of land for tower site, lease studios. Asking $550,000.

It's gonna be a pretty good deal if the cost was a little lower considering the technical issues the station has as well as financial. It hasn't been on in a year but yeah it's a great station that I hope becomes a community station and not just another religious blowtorch in the area (in the area we can catch them from NOLA and BR but up until now, we haven't had a area religious broadcaster in a good 20+ years that I can certifyRFLA

That's what I was wondering... Which of the rich bible boys was gonna get it....JSM has a Class D lpFM in Morgan City running currently on 90.9 that gets into Thibodaux...(also JSM has NO am rebroadcaster)KTIB was originally religious when they started in 1953 according to thier history.I've seen them thru the country, oldies, and news/talk formats .. and theur their frequency flip in 1986.I would have layed bets on spotlight (pre K) or even Jerry Gisclair (post KLRZ sale) but since spotlight has 1510 to basically get back on and Gisclair didn't sell out.. Unless we have someone wanting to return to community radio, it's probably gonna be a gospel of some sort. (My question would be if since Dowdy has a CP for Lafourche parish for 94.9, if he may not want an amer also)RFLA

Yep but this would be the strongest of the amers if he would go after it and would be like 4th in total power output for am and fms from what I can tell.....But nope, you figure JSM, Bott (who has 640 in Tennessee) as well as a few others out there would possibly make a play for this station just to say like the other group.. they have a station covering Baton Rouge and New Orleans (even though techncially the signal stength is something to be desired)RFLA

Well KTIB is at it again, Fighting for control with Victor Bruno saying he is now the head of La-Terr Broadcasting and that there will be NO sale of the station.. whereas Starr is claiming the throne and has installed family members into other positions at the station to sell. Also were 6 offers to buy the station so far with only one from Louisiana suppoedly (yet no one outside of these forums knew that around here before today's newspaper article)read more about it here: (registration is required)http://houmatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060603/NEWS/606030311/1026
