KTKT Tribute Site

Awesome Article! Ran into Barry M in Vegas at CES, going to have to make sure he gets to see that!

This site brings back many memories for those of us growing up in Tucson in the 50's. What I didn't realize until reading this site was how much Frank Kalil influenced Top-40 radio in Tucson - at KTKT and KAIR. He was, by far, the most popular DJ with Tucson's teens and probably still holds the record for percent of market. I wish someone would post the aircheck of the intro to his program ("Across the shifting sands.....etc.).

Just recently I had the pleasure of exchanging emails with Chris Borden who was the morning guy in that time period. I still have his "Hot Times Involuntary Fire Department" card. Intrestingly, when I moved to the Bay Area in 1960 I found both Chris and Buck Herring had also moved from KTKT to KEWB. A little piece of home!

The most aggravating thing about KTKT then was they went off the air shortly after dinner time. We then had to search out KOMA (50,000 watt clear channel 1520 AM) in OK City to get our nightly dose of Rock n Roll.
