KTNC dropping Azteca America?

According to www.100000watts.com AztecaAmerica is losing its San Francisco Outlet. I am assuming they mean KTNC Channel 42 Concord? What type of programming will KTNC be carrying?

That's correct. Pappas Telecasting is pulling out of its partnership with Azteca America due to unsatisfactory profits. That affects KTNC in Concord (San Francisco), KAZR-CA in Reno NV, and KAZH in Houston TX. In Los Angeles, KAZA's contract stipulates that it remains an Azteca America affiliate until 2008.

Rumor has it that the Pappas stations may pick up Equity Broadcasting's Retro Television Network.

Or it may switch back to its previous programming before their switch to Azteca America: "Infomercials 24/7".

Pappas can switch the calls from KTNC to "KTRB-TV". ;D

As far as that KTRB-TV call letter reference goes -- I've heard worse ideas. Really.

Retro TV Network would be a good choice for KTNC (and let's not forget KUNO on the North Coast). It's niche programming; classic TV works pretty well these days; and no one else in the market would have the programming variety.

How many owners were there between Ron Haus' First Century Communications and Pappas?
None. Channel 42 went directly from Haus to Pappas in 1995. Calls changed from KFCB to KTNC too.

WRONG!! The station will keep Spanish programs.

Not wrong at all. While they will continue offering Spanish-language programming, KTNC is dropping AztecaAmerica. Parent company Pappas Telecasting will assemble Spanish-language programming from elsewhere to make up for dumping AztecaAmerica.

So it sounds like KTNC will be a Spanish Language Independent? There goes everyone's pipedream of KTNC going with the Retro Television Network and broadcasting such classics as "Get Smart", "Gomer Pyle USMC", "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Hawaii Five-O" and "Gunsmoke"! VIVA KTNC!!!!!!!! ;D
