KTON - Great Classic Country AM - Being Sold

Anyone know anything about Hereford Agri-Fuels?

According to the FCC, they have just purchased a truly great classic country station - KTON 940 AM in Belton -- for $900,000. I believe they own some other Texas stations.

KTON -- when it's not on Jones Satellite -- plays REAL fiddles-and-steel country music ('50s-'60s, plus some new Texas artists) and is one of the best anywhere. Has quite a few listeners here in Austin.

Will the Agri-Fuels people keep the format? Hope so.

According to what I see, it's the Raftt Corporation whos buying them.

Raftt also owns KILE 1560 Bellaire/Houston, TX along with KWBC-AM 1550 Navasota(near College Station) TX and KYRO-AM 128o Potosi, MI.

Ironically, KYRO is listed as silent and their website hasn't been updated since late May.

Oh, sorry to veer off topic.. but I dobut they'd keep the format. The AM is just a simulcast of 92.1.

KTON has an App to increase power to 4KW day, add a few towers for a total of 6 and send almost all of its signal due north and hit Waco like a glove.

The FM is 25KW/1418 feet near Stephenville, SW of Dallas.

in austin,tx i was able to listen to kton. i don't know what the company's formats are, hopefully stays classic country and doesn't move to dallas. like another station in waco that was playing classic country did.

Is James Harrison still the GM and morning guy at KTON? He's a great guy and he's been playing country music in Central Texas a long, long time. Hope things work out for him at the ol' 940 am.

The waco station that was playing the country music was 104.1 KWOW, which is now a spanish station.

KILE of course is now sports KGOW 1560 "The Game" and has been for almost a year.
