Anyone know anything about 940 KTON ? ( Or I assume it is. )I recently picked it up, but I did some research and it is licensed to Belton, Tx. But is broadcasting stuff from Houston. It never actually listed a call sign, but I looked up the frequency and that is what is listed for it. It is about India, or from what I could tell it was.

It is supposed to be a move-in to the Dallas market, but had been silent for a year. They probably put something on it so they wouldn't have to turn in the license.

I noticed them back on the air a couple of weeks ago - very strange format for the Temple area. I had been trying to get the Houston 950 from Plano, or the Lubbock 950 since the frequency is blank in this area. Unfortunately, 950 from Houston is running IBOC so their signal is now too weak to make it up here. Just another documented case of how IBOC on AM limits analog coverage.

The story I've heard is that Citadel (operator of WKY in OKC) complained to the FCC about the measurements done by the KTON folks; stating that what's specified in the KTON application isn't true..I haven't seen the filing, but I've been told it's very exhaustive, and brings a number of damaging accusations to light. In other words, if Citadel has their way, and the FCC buys their argument, the KTON move is dead.
