KTOX Stunting "Rewind 98.1"

Today, KTOX "Toxic 98.1" from Wofford Heights began stunting as "Rewind 98.1" by playing Baby Shark by Pinkfong on repeat.

I wonder what changes will be coming. Lately, a lot of obscure artists had been added to the playlist, such as Weird Al, Tom Lehrer, and Cheech & Chong.

The station must have been sold. It has been listed with a broker for the last 6 months. The owner has been buying other stations, one up near Mendocino / Fort Bragg. Lake Isabella is over radioed. So is Fort Bragg. 98.1 covers the far westside of the Valley toward Coalinga but
has poor coverage in Tulare County. In fact the 98.1 LPFM in Tulare is still on the air.

Obsucure? No way. Highly well know but not usually programmed, definitely.

So the new format is Rhythmic Oldies... Jodeci, Heavy D, Brandy, etc.

Wonderful!

I know neither KKBB 99.3 "The Groove" or KHHT 98.9 reach Lake Isabella, but does the rest of western Kern County need a *third* R&B station? To be honest, I kinda prefer the Baby Shark song.

KKCA-FM, Arvin 95.7 has filed a license to cover with a transmitter site at Wheeler Ridge 25 miles SW of Bakersfield. KKHT-FM 98.9 has a CP to relocate to the same site.

KKCA just today filed for a license to cover.
KHHT as far as I can tell, is still using the 225 watt tower on top of the Grapevine. Let's see if dropping almost 3,000 feet down to Wheeler Ridge, but with 6x the power, will help coverage into Bakersfield (especially NW & Rosedale, where KSOF breaks thru almost all the time).

KKCA has been on the air for about a week, with a country oldies + rock format.
So far, I've enjoyed their music... many songs I haven't heard in years, plus many that are new to me.

It looks like KRWI will soon lose its rimshot coverage in Bakersfield, as 1100 KAFY received a construction permit for a 250 watt translator on 98.1
KAFY's old translator, K239BB on 95.7, hasn't been used for a long time. And since 95.7 is now used by KKCA Arvin, the new translator will use 98.1 on a tower between Rosedale and Shafter.
The new translator will be directional to protect KRWI, but I still predict more co-channel interference... KRWI 77w vs. KAFY 250w vs. KKJG 4,500w
