KT'R Wakes Up?

Leave it to thousands of protestors to wake up the slumbering dinosaur! Tomorrow KT'R dumps Tony Snow and does a two hour call in on immigration simulcast on non-commercial (yeah, right) KNAI en espanol. Pat McMahon is the host along with a Channel 33 anchor. Meanwhile over at KFYI, Nurse Jeff and I wonder if the Brian James fiasco will cause the ChickBoss to permanently fill the 7-10pm with someone a little more responsible? Leibo gets our nod. In spite of CB's spin, all is not good along the 202 freeway.

There is no such thing as bad publicity, even if the statements are over-the-top. ChickBoss doesn't have to hire the guy (and now she probably won't) and can look good by not offering him that or any other gig. She could say something along the lines of "We want KFYI to be a provocative and entertaining radio station, but there is a line that has been crossed...." What's funny (and Leibo pointed this out last night) is that the host said this WEEKS ago and there was no spontaneous outcry. Almost nobody heard it until the church group got up in arms. Silliness.

Think that's the end of excerpts from KFYI hosts? We think not. In fact the Nurse and I are certain there are hours of sound bites in the can just waiting to be used. Responding with "taken out of context" doesn't count in the court of public opinion. The Chick Boss will have a lot more 'splainin' to do!

Dude, think about it, Pat McBland is doing it, how cutting edge can it be?

Expect at least 15 corny "I'm Irish Catholic and I sleep on an adjustable bed" jokes, followed by smarmy talk about his favorite mexican resturants, and some discussion about how gerald wasn't racist, just a priveleged white brat.

Yeah, this will solve the problem, bore everyone to death and no one wants to fight.

You don't HAVE to listen. You DO have a choice of other stations.

I, for one, think it's a *smart* programming move, considering what it's pre-empting...

I might actually learn something, too...from someone that's LOCAL.

Did anyone notice that on KFYI.com that instead of "KFYI Programming" from 7-10 it now has names:

Leibo: Monday and Thursday
David James: Tuesday
Terry Gilberg: Wednesday
Jim Sharpe: Friday

I wonder if KT'R will still play Leibo's commercials?
