KTRB 860 AM

Stay tuned: I have a pretty good connection there who tells me many changes are ahead.

Perhaps they will try entertainment this time around ;) Oh, and perhaps some decent processing. Some nice folks work there who deserve better.

I have two pretty good connections there, too: the owner and the program director.

You want to compare what you've heard to what I've heard from them?

DJ

Mancow: can't stand him!
Glenn Beck: irritating!
Neal Boortz: no opinion. never heard his show.
John London: still one of my favorites
Laura Ingram: entertaining in doses
Phil Hendrie: on of my favorites. love the new show
John and Jeff: BLEH!!!

Mancow: Who is that guy? They pay him?
Glenn Beck: Not even good for a laugh
Neal Boortz: Self-absorbed dingbat. WSB can have him.
John London: Ho hum...
Laura Ingram: Self-appreciating snob with nothing but complaints. I don't need another whiner in my life.
Phil Hendrie: Same old thing. It has it's moments, but predictable.
John and Jeff: Don't know them, don't care.

In other words, PG&E is happy, but I'm not sure it is worth the juice. I get more kicks from KPIG-AM than this sad loser. Even with the new sticks up in the north bay, the horsepower still won't make up for the lackluster programming from somewhere else.

I said it before and I might be off base but I thought of "personality talk" on the lines of the old KNBR/KSFO style programing. KTRB started to sound different but now it just sounds like the rest of the satellite talkies.

Don Mussel weren't you an engineer about 200 years ago?

Nah, I'll stipulate that you have the better connections! One wonders if the plan is for something completely different once the day site is turned on and tuned up. It would make sense to go with the current, inexpensive programming until then. Comments?

Live & local is whats it is all about. Not taped.

Bob Gowa is now the exclusive news anchor on KTRB, via Metro Networks, where he worked from 1990 to 1997 as an airborne traffic reporter assigned to KGO.

As noted earlier, Jim Pappas has also hired Chris Edwards -- yes, the same Chris Edwards who was at KYA and K-101, and was more recently in sales with Clear Channel's S.F. cluster -- to spearhead KTRB's marketing effort in the Bay Area.

Chris Edwards left a couple weeks ago. He started at KFRC in sales last Monday. From what he said, I don't think he plans to return to KTRB.

Static -- Really? I just got his new KTRB business card from him a few weeks ago. Holy smokes!

I should have checked my email. I received a message late last night from deep within KFRC World Headquarters with the correction.

* Remove Chris Edwards from the KTRB column.

* Place Chris Edwards into the the KFRC column.

I'll go sit in the corner until nine o'clock...

(I mentioned in my blog that my Chris Edwards business card is now a collector's item. I'll put it up on Ebay later to raise a few bucks for the museum!) ;D
