KTRB program speculation?

Most people are wondering what other shows that KTRB might pick up in addition to Mancow, Neal Boortz and John London. I think KTRB will pick up Alan Colmes for 7:pM-11:pM and Roy Masters for 11:pM-1:AM. As for overnights? How about Joey Reynolds? That just leaves the 9:AM-Noon slot? G. Gordon Liddy?

They have already annnounced most of their line up. It's only 10-days away......I do not expect them to air Gordon Liddy.

It will be atop notch facility located at a former location of KNBR. There is still lots of construction going on but you will not hear a silly hammer on the air, it will be real programing starting March 15th.

The San Francisco sound will remain on weekend nights.

Many are trying to place KTRB in a certain catagory except they will be unique. They are not copying anyone, instead they are creating a new station that they expect will serves the needs of the Bay Area.

Did you have a concept of what you expect KTRB to be?

And an all-syndicated lineup, in a market that already has four AM talk stations, "serves the needs of the Bay Area"... how, exactly?

"Most people are wondering..."

Um yeah. Sure. Everyone can't stop taking about KTRB.

Right now, the station will feature syndicated hosts, but we do plan on adding local talk in the future, perhaps by mid-2008 or early 2009.

Yes, Glenn Beck has been signed.

In the meantime, there are some other ideas we are looking into to add local voices to the station.

Stay tuned!

Joey Reynolds is on their KMPH. Mancow is on KSTN Stockton. Their signal is so gutless so I don't think it should matter. Alhtough KTRB should reach Stockton so will KSTN drop it?

G. Gordon Liddy and Alan Colmes are basically the shows you clear when you want to fail immediately. If you look out at the bay, you can see their ships by squinting just right... ships that have sailed.

The transmitter being used by KTRB right now -- day and night -- is their nighttime transmitter. Eventually, they will begin using their daytime site (net yet constructed) in the Northbay.

KTRB/860's signal isn't any good in Stockton, from the small amount of sampling I've done, and Stockton isn't the station's target market.

Since I don't live in Northern California anymore, I don't know how strong KTRB's signal is, but regardless I don't see KSTN dropping Mancow. Let's see, I'll use Rush Limbaugh for an example. He is on many radio stations which reaches Stockton like Stockton's own KWSX-1280, KFIV-1360 Modesto, KFBK-1530 Sacramento, KSFO-560 San Francisco, KMJ-580 Fresno, KNCO-830 Grass Valley, KSCO-1080 Santa Cruz, KVML-1450 Sonora and KYOS-1480 Merced. So it doesn't matter if a shows reaches into another market carrying the same show.

Here are ten key points to keep in mind:

1. We are aware of the long-term need for local talk and are building fully functional talk studios at our facility.
2. We are also aware of the fact that the market is extremely competitive.
3. When our permanent daytime tower site is operational, our signal will be one of the best in the Bay Area.
4. John London had a rating of .5 among Adults 25-54 at KNBR, which is respectable in this market.
5. Glenn Beck was growing on KNEW, and then he was cancelled...I'll leave the speculation up to others.
6. We're confident that Mancow's show, which is very well produced, will attract a strong audience. It is truly unique.
7. Take a look at who Neal Boortz is up against in his timeslot, and you'll realize why we are confident in his prospects as well.
8. We have no plans to air infomercials in key dayparts.
9. Stockton is NOT our target market.
10. We have worked through a lot of obstacles to get to this point and have signed several long-term leases; we're in the market for the long haul.

I have to admit, but Jim Pappas has a strong argument. I truly wish him luck. He is also right, Stockton is not their target market, KMPH-840 is. Whomever is the first local talk show host hired by Jim will be a very lucky person. Having worked for Bessie Pappas back in 1994, She was a class act. The Pappas family are a good family to work for. I bet both Pete and Mike are looking down fro heaven proud as can be seeing that their dream have been fulfilled. Good Luck Jim!!! :)

"When our permanent daytime tower site is operational, our signal will be one of the best in the Bay Area."

I wish the Pappas group good luck as well - this is quite an ambitious effort. But I hope I benefit from the better daytime signal. I live in the south side of Bernal Heights, which has been problematic for some San Francisco FM stations - a few of the lower power FMs do not come in well, while San Jose FMs come in very strong.

I've never had a problem with AM signals however, until now - KSFO, KCBS, KGO, and most others come in well. Unfortunately, KTRB does not.

I just wish Phil Hendrie hadn't given up his radio career for a career in acting. His show was f-ing hilarious. I know his satire was an acquired taste like...Clamato but I think he would've rounded out KTRB very nicely.
