KTRB sounds much better in the rain!

Ever since it started raining KTRB sounds much cleaner and stronger than ever!

Has anyone else noticed the difference?

Also I still loose 860 when driving through the Webster Street/Posey Tube (under the Oakland Esturary). KGO, KCBS and KSFO do penetrate the tube.

Has anyone tried to receive 860 going through the Caldecot Tunnel?

Well the rain continues to pour in the Bay Area and it only helps that ground conductivity for AM.

Newsperson

Ground conductivity does improve when the ground is wet. BUt I did not notice any increase in signal up here in north Santa Cruz county.

The signal is really smokin' into Oakland. With another Hit of Fresh Air and Country Joe and the Fish with La, La, La,(remember that song) KTRB is really smokin' in the East Bay!

Any other reception reports from the Bay Area?

How about some songs you reconize?

Newsperson

They're playing numerous songs that I haven't heard over the air in years. Lots of familiar stuff and also some songs that I'm not familiar with. If one listens long enough, you will notice repeats. How many times can they play "Mendocino" or "Susie Q" for example?

My suggestion for a format (if it hasn't already been decided on) is adult standards, with some local talent, such as Jim Lange, Carter B. Smith, et. al. Music of Your Life or another syndicated format would work, but not as well.

A good 5 minute news (AP perhaps) broadcast at the top of the hour, with a shorter version at 00:30 would be nice also.

I'm sure we'll be hearing sports of some type on the station. With a signal like they have, I'm sure there will be colleges and some pro team eager to take advantage of that. Are you listening Oakland Athletics?

Newsperson, Just wait until the summer's sun spots hit (static city). KTRB by the way comes in loud and clear in south San Jose.

Thats because their transmitter site is only about 12 miles away give or take a mile or two. Pappas has all the bets covered quite well for any format they should undertake with the station. During the day the entire bay area at night the entire south bay is covered to reach the huge spanish speaking population living there. This company is going to clean up with this station. The pea shooter spanish language stations are all in deep deep deep do do should they do a spanish language format. Props to Pappas for the instant success of this station no matter what the format. Now will Pappas spend the dollars to promote this new station effectively?

If I hear one more spanish programed radio station here in the south bay I am going to scream so loud the'll hear me back at the transmitteter site 12 (give or take) miles away.

In Napa Valley, KTRB is stronger in Napa, but gets a little weaker as you drive past
neighboring Yountville, Saint Helena...especially at night; Calistoga gets some
sort of co-channel interference at night (860 in Oregon, perhaps? I heard what
sounded like a female talk-show host)...
While traveling to Santa Cruz early this afternoon (2/10), KTRB roared in the west and
southwest portions of the Bay Area. Very strong in Santa Cruz and Capitola, and north
on State Highway 1!

I'm no longer in SF so I didn't/don't hear KTRB, but I'd believe it. My first job in radio was at a hole-in-the-wall AM station in Concord (KATD). When it rained, we boomed into SF. Was always disheartening that we didn't otherwise. :-( LOL

Did anyone ever think they might be still testing everything out?
