KTRE/9 no longer airing weather on 9.2

http://www.ktre.com/Global/story.asp?S=11724241

They're reporting "technical difficulties" and programming changes as the reason.

A quick check of KLTV/7's website showed no stories like the one above, but 7's link to TitanTV for listings showed weather in the grids, but "This TV" on the left label for 7.2. TitanTV for 9.2 showed "programming unavailable" but still labeled as weather. If ThisTV does end up on 7.2/9.2, there will be no other weather subchannel programming left in the market.

Every market needs to have at least 1 weather subchannel according to the FCC.

I like that idea, I remember back before digital TV if bad weather was around I'd just watch the bottom of the screen for radar updates.

Where is this rule? I'm unaware of its existence.

I hope that KLTV is not planning to dump the 24/7 Stormtracker weather channel in lieu of This TV. I have watched This on KSLA, and have to say that it is a bit underwhelming.

Uh.....yea.....that's a new one. And how would the FCC go about determining which station got to sacrifice a subchannel?
That's what I think, to keep the injuries to a minimum.
