KTRH is once again illegally streaming astro games

> so what? its on their station, they have rights to broadcast

Broadcast rights and internet rights are two different animals. Stations sometimes have to put separate programming on their internet feeds as streaming rights are extra $$$, and often not worth the cost versus number of listeners.

This brings up a curious question? Would broadcast rights to any programming cover all the various streams in a multicast, such as HD1/2/3 ?

Ken C. owned up to this fact on (KTRH streaming on KLOL's HD2 signal) a few weeks ago on Garfield's tech show. He admits it sounds MUCH better in true digital quality!

Can you get cable TV for free? Can you get gas for free? You can get the Astros for free with a radio tuned to 740 AM. So why shouldn't you be able to get it for free through a computer? Once upon a time, listening to Major League Baseball through a computer WAS free. Until it got popular and MLB decided they could make a buck off it.

Many stations stream online games its not just Clear Channel.<P ID="signature">______________

740 am signal sucks at night, say if you get in your vehicle turn on 740 and its fading in and out like crazy cant hear half of what there saying, my understanding is that the transmitter is in bad shape for the past 20 years are so and to add that they have a wave pattern that was probably set up in the 50s when all the houston area wasnt this size and more and more stations are popping up on the same frequency, that one of many reasons I dont listen to 740 any more. thanks for the tip about the streaming, now I hope mlb doenst find out which they will now.

Nobody likes a narc, Officer Stedenko!! You probably sat in the back of the class and tattled on the people who were talking or passing notes too.

Dont know where you get YOUR info but you are so obviously WRONG!
740 has a modern 50KW transmitter...(either a Harris DX50 or a 3DX50; all solid state) and it is not in bad shape (and they still have a backup)...As for the pattern, it was done when they moved to the Dayton site back in the 70s or early 80s..NOT in the 50...but they have to protect the 740 in Canada..so they dont have a good signal to the north side of Houston and they have the equiv of 150,000 watts toward downtown from the Dayton side...yes if you live in the north edges, it sucks...but they cannot do anything about that. As for other stations popping up on 740??? NO WAY...it is a Canadian Clear AM channel...thus any station looking at 740 must protect the Canadian 740 AND any existing stations..your arguments show you know NOTHING about radio engineering and stating the TRUTH.

Agreed. Additionally, we do not know what kind of contract has been made between the Astros and KTRH. We are not privy to those details, neither do they owe any explination to us. It's a contract between two companies. They are well within their legal rights to keep the details quashed. It's their business. Besides, when it gets down to it, do we really care? Does it really matter?

Yep, its day and night patterns look right down your throat ;) .....plus the fact with water in most of the path and the ground conductivity near the coast...
anything low in the band (less than 1000) and with decent power (more than 1KW) will cover down the coast ok..560 KLVI out of Beaumont covers down past Corpus during the day..its omni then...but the night pattern looks more WNW from its site...so the coast loses at night.
