Shara left the anchor desk after a colon cancer scare in 2002, and did special projects for a few years. She retired from TV in June of 2006.
People do get tired of the grind after spending many years doing the same thing. Don't worry about Shara. She married well and she's financially secure.
I imagine she's enjoying private life very very much right now.
Shara was seen recently guest hosting on Channel 11's Great Day Houston, during the interim between the former host and Debra Duncan. She still looked and sounded great on television. I had the pleasure of meeting her at several media events over the years and she seemed to be a truly gracious lady.
You gauged her right Kev. Shara really is one of the really nice TV people this town has produced. That's how she always came across on the air, and I can also say that what you see is what you get. Nothing phony about her. Unlike some we can all name.
